I was very disappointed today. I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and have always recommended it to my friends. I had a team meeting and I made two phone calls prior to arriving this morning. They confirmed that they had breakfast specials until 11:00 a.m. when I arrive the waitress knew nothing about the specials and upon checking she advised me that there was no specials after 8:30 a.m.
I asked for coffee and water and she forgot the water and I had to ask three times in order for her to bring me a water.
I then asked for a country in a taco and a chorizo/egg taco with ranchero sauce on the side.
She brought my order of country and egg, along with a chorizo and bean taco
I told her that I did not order a chorizo and bean taco and I requested the ranchero sauce again.
Another waitress brought me a plate of eggs. I'm assuming they were wanting me to mix the cold chorizo and beans with the eggs that they brought over and that is not what I ordered.
I wish I would have taken a picture of it because it was ridiculous. They then bring me two tacos of chorizo and bean separately and just threw some eggs in it.
Since there was no special, my bill came out to $80 on breakfast items for only six people.
When I went to pay the bill they were indicating on their little machine that the tip was almost $15 at 18%. I chose not to give a $15 tip. Since service was so bad, I only gave almost a 10% tip of $7
When I walked back to my table I noticed that they had charged me for the chorizo and egg Taco that they never got correct. They also charge me $1.25 for the ranchero sauce that they never brought. And, $10.49 for a 18% service charge on top of the tip that I had given them for only $7!!! ( when we walked in there was three waitresses sitting at the front table doing nothing. There was only one other table occupied with two people. We left by 11:15 a.m. so, there was never a lunch rush );
I brought up the situation to the cashier and she did refund the taco, the ranchero sauce and my $7 tip.
They just lost a really good customer and my team was deeply disappointed.
To paraphrase a notable quote, "so many taquerias, so little time". This neighborhood breakfast and lunch restaurant can really pack 'em in at times with the crowded parking lot spilling over into the street and up the road. Is the food really that good.?
We have eaten here probably 30 times before we decided to venture out to other areas of the city to try many of the hundreds of taquerias that dot the city map. Why? The food here is rather average and I can say that after having had more than 20 plates of enchiladas, tacos, and other tex-mex fare over the years.
There are so many other places we have found that are more authentic, whatever that means, have tastier food and are priced equivalently or less expensive. When someone tells you that this place is the best, don't you believe them unless they have actually tasted food from the 200 or 300 mexican food restaurants in San Antonio. A not so small feat which I hope to come close to before I succumb to a high cholesterol induced heart attack and slip these earthly bonds. Ratings are a pet peeve of mine. Best means best of all, not just a few. Don't get me wrong, you will surely satisfy your mexican food craving at Aguascalientes, but be aware that there are many other places that can do the same thing or better (and I have been to some 30 or more to prove it, at least to myself).
What drove us to explore elsewhere was consistency, or the lack of it. Sometimes the beef enchiladas here were good, other times, not so much. We were also tired of ordering breakfast tacos to pick-up, getting them home, and finding that we had bean and cheese tacos rather than bacon and egg. And that can be a real bummer when you have your mouth set for just that certain taco type if you know what I mean. Also, the place begins to look more divey as the years pass with an unkempt appearance that begins to generate suspicion as to how that aspect may pertain to the kitchen.
Try this place if you are in the area, but I would not make a special trip for the sometimes good run of the...

I was going to leave but was told that their Pozole was delicious. My family and I sat, waited 15 minutes for menus , another 10 for coffee and water. I ordered the Pozole- it was not at all delicious. It was extremely salty, the pork tasted old. Instead of cabbage, I was given shredded old lettuce. My daughter ordered a steak burrito- horrible. The steak was so tough she had to open the burrito up and cut the steak into small pieces to avoid choking. My other daughter order a bean and cheese taco. The beans were extremely salty and tasted like they were from a can- no color. The taco was cold with chunks of shredded cheese that was not melted. I ordered a taco with chorizo and bean and took one bite- again horrible. Salty and extremely runny beans. It looked like diarrhea on my plate. My daughter ordered chorizo, egg and bean and they brought out a sausage, egg and bean. The taco was salty , cold and tasteless. My Coffee was never refilled. I will never go back to this restaurant. Trust me when I say it is horrible. Poor service, horrible tasting food- NEVER AGAIN. I will stay home and cook...
