Definitely wouldnât even leave 1 star if it was my choice. First starting with the service, the ladies up front are really rude, I would have left our food & not paid if I didnât have company joining us. My husband asked for a potato and egg taco where he can clearly see itâs not the best looking(dry) but he really wanted potato and egg so he asks the lady if she can just mix both (plain egg & potato&egg together) and she says with an attitude âitâs dry do you even want itâ and he says âyes if you can just mix the 2â and she made a disgusting face as if she was the one paying for it. It didnât stop there, I decided to give the barbacoa a try well when I asked the older lady for pico de Gallo and avocado she yelled âno mam you need to get with her up in the front about thatâ. Um excuse me I didnât know it was so hard to turn around to the fridge behind & grab a pico? Secondly I work in fast food and I know we ALWAYS go above and beyond to attend every customer until theyâre satisfied, even if it means stopping to slice a jalapeño for them? well we slide down to the cashier and again I ask for the pico & avocado again & the lady hands me the pico and then says âwe only have one avocado itâs the whole one right there we donât do slicesâ and I tell her âthatâs fine iâll buy the whole thing if yâall can please just slice it for meâ & she says âno but thereâs plastic knives by the drinks you can cut it yourselfâ I was in awe! Seriously itâs that hard to just slice an avocado that IM PAYING FOR? they expect me to remove to seed with a plastic knife too? Lmao ridiculous. Then she gets upset when I bring my brother ahead of the line in which we had all been waiting for at the same time but the other ladyâs let people cut in front just because YALL were out of beans at 11 am. So I called him to where we were paying so I can pay for his food & she rolls her eyes? To top that off my barbacoa taco was cold when I sat down inside to eat. As for that tamales, they were mediocre, rubens tamales are way better, and for the service iâll definitely be choosing to go to Eddyâs taco house where the ladyâs go out of theyâre way for anything you need. Needless to say we will not be returning to Tellez ever again. Not that it makes a difference but word of mouth...
Read moreWorst investment of food in a long time.. The food was tasteless, expensive for the lack of quality of the food, and greasy. Mind you I only tried this restaurant for the high reviews, but after my visit I am convinced they were most likely written by the staff to attract newcomers such as myself ,completely bamboozled by this restaurant.Ordered some chicharron and barbacoa tacos ,buddy ordered the menudo , we had not ate all day, even so it did stop us from leaving the food almost untouched on the table thats how bad it was. I only tried half a chicharron taco before I convinced my buddy to go elsewhere. I had ordered 3 more tacos left them still in their wrapper. The chicharron was flavorless just nasty looking. The barbacoa was soaked in grease, it should come with a warning wrapper really ,stating the health hazard and come with a liability waiver. Keep in mind I asked for the barbacoa that was on top of the rest of it she even squeezed it a bit and still the amount of grease was unacceptable for any human to consume no matter their level of gluttony. I only opened the barbacoa taco saw it floating in a puddle of grease and closed it right away. Tortilla was basted in oil too just terrible. My buddy said the menudo was expensive , tasteless and not enough to fill you up. He said he would not recommend for cure after a hangover. The restaurant gives you this cold environment feel to it , prison lunch /soup kitchen line type of setup inside . Trays on one end and a long narrow tray stand to the other side . You cannot see the food from all the steam or dirty windows on the food line , they should really put wipers on there or clean them. They do sell a good 2 liter Dr...
Read moreHeard about Tellez tamales through a group chat. Read the good reviews about this place before heading out there. When I got there around 1100 Saturday morning, there's hardly any parking space and there was already a line at the order counter. It didn't take long to place my order though.I ordered the barbacoa and pork tamales to go.When I got home, I was so excited about the barbacoa but ended up so disappointed because it lacked flavor, as if somebody just dropped the unseasoned beef in the cooker. They didn't even give me onions, cilantro and lime to go with it( unless you ask for them, maybe?)I also ordered corn tortillas for my barbacoa which enhanced the flavor a bit but I had to sprinkle salt on it and add onions, cilantro and lime courtesy of my fridge. The tamales are okay. It didn't give me the " This is the best tamales I've ever eaten!" vibe. Some tamales are dry but the ones that were wrapped in the middle were moist. With the price that I paid for them I will just stick with the brand that I normally get from my neighborhood HEB.Should I go back to this place? Maybe. Just because they have plenty on their menu that I...
