I’ve grown up my whole life eating Texas BBQ, and have eaten at many of the legendary spots. I’m giving this 5 stars because this place would fit right in with the rise in competition I’ve witnessed growing up in Austin and I left happy knowing I had a go-to spot for BBQ in SA now.

The Brisket was on point. Great tasting bark, so you don’t really need sauce at all, but I also really liked the unique flavor of the house-made sauce so I used it sparingly on the less fatty sections of meat.

It was later in the day, so the owner was generous and gave me a free sample of the pulled pork. I definitely would recommend the brisket over the pork for my personal taste, but it did work well with the sauce and also the house made tomatillo sauce that was offered. I liked both the potato salad and the corn, but wasn’t floored by either compared to the brisket. However... if I’m being fair and comparing it to the sides you get at most BBQ spots it was all definitely well above average.

The final thing that really impressed was the attention to detail. The quality of garnishes/flavor enhancers was well above what you get at most BBQ spots and is kind of indicative of the new era of Texas BBQ in my eyes. It’s all about the meats, but it’s not ONLY about the meats.

I will be back and look forward to trying the ribs among...

Hello all. I consider myself a Barbeque Connoisseur I love to eat and make BBQ. I have never come across an establishment with so many tremendous items on the menu. My wife and I stopped in by accident and BAM we were treated to some of the absolute best bbq we have ever found in San Antonio or Austin. The brisket was excellent, sausage (polish and jalapeno) excellent, pork ribs excellent, beans and potato salad excellent and last but not least the banana pudding excellent. I forgot the jalapeno poppers were truly unexpected but very delicious. I do not get this exited about any bbq restaurant but I would actually buy and wear a t-shirt from The Hot Box. Thanks folks that...

First time here. Fairly quick. Decent price. Came late, were mostly out of brisket.. snagged the last sandwich. Some guy hooked me up w two ribs.. they were also soon to close. Corn was good, charro beans were great. Brisket and Mac sandwich was great. Sauce way too sweet. Out of jalapeno poppers. Bad timing for me. Will definitely return at an earlier time.

Also.. found a 2-3" gray hair in my beans.. Pulled it out of my mouth, still ate the beans. Whatever. The beans were great, the gray hair looked silky and clean.?.!!.. Experienced much worse from restaurants in life.

Went because Adriel keeps posting delicious photos on fb.. thanks for the...

Absolutely amazing! The food was SO delicious! The portions were awesome. We came for the Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich and loved it. The Jalapeno Poppers were an essential add on. The flavor of the seasonings used were just addicting! We were fighting over our order! Finished off our meal with the banana pudding. We weren't sure but it was an absolute MUST! Omg, especially after such delicious spicy and savory foods, this soft sweet dessert is just heavenly! Totally recommend! This is such an awesome business! Please consider offering them your support so that we can keep them here in our city! Thank you to James and Mario for the excellent experience.

Anyone that doesn’t give this spot a five star review is bonkers. Best customer service! Owner was such a pleasure to speak with. Food was absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back. I got the chicken sandwich and don’t even think I chewed my food. Inhaled it- it was so dam good. I will say the parking lot is small. If you get there at a busy hour you’ll have to park on the side street by some houses. I went around 1:30 and even though the lot was filled due to it being next to a bar there was parking relatively close and absolutely no one in the separate dining area behind the truck with a whole bar set up. Absolutely peaceful.
