I went to Thousand Oaks Cafe on Jones Maltsberger today for breakfast. My waitress was attentive and I had no issue with her service. I ordered a vegetable omelette, but did not want the pancakes or bean and potatoes that came with the breakfast. The waitress said I could order it a la carte. After it arrived, it was quite small and the bell pepper was cut in large pieces, not diced(I had to use a knife to cut into it). That was not the problem. The food tasted good. I asked if I could substitute ham for the other sides and was told yes. When I received the bill it was almost 15.00. They had charged me for the complete breakfast, plus the ham ( which was paper thin, similar to luncheon meat) and a cup of coffee. I asked the cashier to speak with a manager. I had seen a woman with a headset running around and I assumed it was her. A waiter came out and said that she would not remove or adjust the charge. I asked to speak with her personally and was told that the waiter was the manager. With the tip it was almost 17.00. I wrote on the check that I would not be back and told that to the waiter. His comment was " Yes sir, that's your choice!" and walked off. I want to reiterate that my waitress was excellent, the food good but not exceptional though very small portion. After leaving I called back and asked to speak with the manager and was told she was busy. I asked her to please call me and left my number. I have not heard from her or anyone from the restaurant. Customer service is important to me. Taking the time to speak to a customer, listen the them and make a gesture of good will seems to be lost on this manager. I will make sure NOT to recommend this restaurant to my friends...
Read moreI ordered on Grubhub for pickup. I was told my food would be ready when I arrived in 10-15 minutes. Showed up 15-18 minutes later and looked at the app which showed my food was ready. I entered the restaurant and found out my food order was not complete it was missing my two large drinks.
The waitress assisting me told me I didn't order any drinks. She looked and then went to get me one of the two drinks. When I showed her that I had ordered two from the app. One of the other waitresses told her to give me small drinks instead as the price was different. However, when I order from the Thousand Oaks location I receive the drinks I ordered and pay for.
When I told the waitress this she told me that the item was priced wrong and I was not going to get what I ordered and paid for. This was after they tried to short one drink from my order. When I said this is not a customer problem this is an issue between the restaurant and Grubhub they looked at me like I had lost my mind.
This is poor customer service from the restaurant's end and needs to be resolved and not at the customer's expense. When I told Grubhub what had occurred it was made right. Do not waste your time or hard-earned money at this location. Thousand Oaks cafe on Jones Maltzberger you need...
Read moreThousand Oaks Cafe is close to the house. So this makes them an easy quick stop for "Mexican Food". In all honesty they are not that great, food is mediocre while prices are set for much higher value food. They do not offer higher value. Word to the wise when driving through they don't listen to your order it's more of a "You get what we decide you get" scenario. Out of the hundreds of times I have gone there over there years this remains true. Either they are not listing when you order or the cook doesn't care. One or the other. Either way be ready to not get your order correct.
There are much better places a bit further but for convenience I will just just deal.
Just an update after one year-- Nothing has changed, went through today and ordered a Chalupa plate and got a chalupa. No plate. Why? Because that is all they wanted to hear when I ordered. Silly that a year later the same problem exists.
For got to add the Bean and Cheese tacos had a teaspoon serving of beans. 98% Tortilla. Got ripped off for sure. But hey they say "Dining on a budget" who thought it was them too.
6 months later- Stopped for tacos. Bought a drink 3.56$ for a small cup. That is correct I said 3.56$ the cost of three tacos. Or 4 Valero drinks. Or as of posting less than 1...
