It is an average Mexican restaurant but has the ability to be great. The staff is not welcoming, its very obvious they'd rather be anywhere else but there. But if they fostered a customer service experience they have potential to be amazing. Im sticking with to go orders because I don't like feeling like I'm bothering them. But as for the food, my goodness. It was soo good. I wish I were more hungry so I can order more. The carne guisada was tender. The cheese was plentiful. The tortilla was AMAZING. Homemade for sure. The puffy taco was a real puffy taco, better than any I've ever had. The food is what will bring me back for sure.

It’s been a long time since I came to Veronica’s and what a big disappointment. The service and the food were unacceptable. The servers spent most of their time at the counter talking, it took a long time to get our food. My food was microwaved and dry. It was one of the worst dishes I’ve tried. Note: I left my entire plate because it was not in edible. the prices were high for the quality of the food. In the end the servers sat down and were laughing like if there were no customers. Will never come back.

The flour tortillas were well cooked and still supple. They serve Big cups of coffee and a pretty decent hot sauce both red and green. Well seasoned beans in my bean & cheese. My papa rancher was flavorful as well. Pretty content with the discovery of this little place that is not so little at all and reminds me of my mom's restaurant back in the '80's. And to think I've been avoiding it for years.

For years I looked for good authentic Mexican food in San Antonio, but it was an exercise in futility. El Paso and Houston have real Mexican food, a long drive for lunch. Veronica's is no frills and no rice reeking of cumin. I started to go there for breakfast years ago, and I was never disappointed. What they serve is simple but made the way it's supposed to be, and that's saying a lot. If you really don't care what real Mexican food tastes like, there are more than 30 Taco Bells in the area and plenty of over-decorated expensive tourist traps claiming to serve the best Mexican food in town. What they have is boring Tex-Mex chow that even a good salsa can't save. I can't blame anyone because it's almost impossible to find good authentic Mexican food in restaurants on the other side...

Went there for the first time last Saturday, had tacos; Potato and Egg, Bean and cheese. Tacos were delicious, the tortillas made me think my Abuelita was in the back making them. I went back again today and got the Huevos a la Mexicana plate; Eggs were delicious, Beans were good, Potatoes were not cooked all the way (but were good) and of course the main reason you go, The tortillas were slap yo mama good. I'd go again just for those tortillas. I saw the cook, she's an older lady with red hair, I almost proposed to her, but I remembered I'm already married, but imagine having those tortillas made for you every day... At least try...
