This place popped out of nowhere. I think it was another sushi restaurant before that failed over the pandemic. Either way, "kazoku" means "family" in Japanese so I guess they are going for the local, homely vibe. Given 4.9 stars, gave it a go. We just went for the nigiris just to test this place out and I can now understand why many are raiting it high. Definitely fresh fish at a very reasonable price. The sushi making technique however isn't top notch. It feels a bit amateurish, as if an uncle made the nigiris... and perhaps that is the "family" moniker in their name. I think Sushi Kazoku has a shot and surviving and being great. But they'll definitely have to step it up a bit in terms of the overall nigiri construction. The definitely checked off the fresh fish in thick slices. Now it's the rest. We'll definitely return and give it another shot.

I ordered takeout from this place, and was quite disappointed with the quantity of food. I ordered 2 rolls for nearly $25 each, but the quantity of food I received felt worth much less than $50 I’ve ordered takeout sushi rolls from different places across the bay, and at this price point this has to be the worst value I’ve ever received. The silver lining is that the sushi rolls were not bad. I had the 49ers roll and the Kazoku roll. 49ers roll is very neutral in flavor and goes great with a little soy sauce. the Kazoku roll was overwhelming with flavor and had a little spicy kick to it. I was less of a fan of Kazoku roll. I was surprised by the high reviews of this place, but I suspect that dine-in is a better experience. I may try that in the future, but never again for takeout

My brother and I have had a system of ranking restaurants on a scale of 1-10 for years. Very rarely do we come across a true 10. This place was absolute perfection. The fish quality? incredible. Phenomenal, Fresh, large pieces. They do not skimp. But that is besides the point. The true star of the show is the RICE. The rice is perfectly fluffy and has that delicious rice vinegar flavor mixed in for perfect sushi rice. The chirashi almost had us licking the bowl, when we usually leave most the rice. The service was phenomenal and the server was so sweet. Quite a small restaurant and I could see how it could be really busy easily. I love this place and it needs more traction. This is a...
