jersey mikes knows the way to my heart...by offering a free regular sub no strings attached for being newly opened in the balboa shopping mall. it pays to actually go thru your junk mail ;)

said coupon was about to expire and with running around town on an empty stomach, perfect idea for a late sunday lunch. i strolled in and was shocked by how busy it was this late in the afternoon. jersey mikes has a bit of a following, eh? it was my first time ever going to one. i didnt mind the wait as it gave me time to get a rundown on the menu and how things operate. cold sandwiches, hot, wraps, salads...mikes way, your way, you name it.

i understand now what sets JM apart from the other sandwich shops: they slice the meat and cheese right there in front of you on their massive slicer. for about what the competition is charging, but with precut meats and cheeses sitting in a tray....no brainer? you can also tell a lot about taste and quality based on how happy the workers look. and they sure look happy here. id equate it to the vibe you get a In-N-out. smiles, enthusiasm, and they dont rush your order because they dont have to...its a well oiled assembly line machine.

on to the food! i got the Italian (#13) as ive been on a kick for that lately. "Mikes way" with the toppings all sounded perfect to me...and glancing at the few reviews already on here i got the heads up on their pepper relish (that thick bright red spread in the container). The verdict was a very satisfying sandwich of perfect portion for a hungry stomach.

the only thing i wasnt super fond of is how much of the liquids they douse the sandwiches with (oil and vinegar, etc). next time I will order it "light" as they put way more on than other places. makes the sandwich...

This store is woefully understaffed. There were only three employees for the store and with it being double points day the employees were totally drowning in orders and angry customers. I ordered a giant #13 and it came out fine albeit seriously delayed and I ordered a giant #17 with only meat and extra cheese. When they bagged session it up they said to one another that this has no veggies and they confirmed it. When I got home I opened it and there were onions all through the sandwich and when I went back they informed me the only bread they had was a little bit of wheat and wraps left. I had to call to see if wheat was okay and I guess they found the last white bread. They remade the sandwich but didn’t clean the grill off and still found traces of onions in the sandwich. All I kept hearing was the employees having to apologize to everyone for the long wait and they even had to inform online order customers about them running out of bread. The employees even stated that they get angry customers all the time because of double points days. This store needs more employees to keep up with the demand on these days because the performance was extremely substandard and needs...

I would give -5 stars if I could!!!! They are open til 10 tonight we got here 10 min before close and as we pulled up the heavier set woman who looks of African American descent was mopping the floor just as I approached the door I guess her not realizing I could hear her ((CLEAR AS DAY)) through the glass door, turn around to her other co worker yelling I know this white b** don’t think she gun come up in here! I opened the door anyways and immediately she said excuse me we actually closed, with the nastiest attitude I said it says you are open til 10 online and she said ya well we just closed 5 min ago.. I was completely in shock at this woman’s anger towards me simply for walking up and wanting to order food from them. I will never return to this place I can’t believe the incredible amount of disrespect the employees here at this location can get away with towards customers as well as making up their own closing times . Go to another location don’t waste your time here. I would not trust her making or handling...
