Staff is very, very nice and accommodating to requests for more salsa. That's all this place has going for it though. The nachos El Portal are a gigantic pile of chips (some tasted like old oil) with a sprinkle of flavorless carne asada. The carne asada was soft, but had no flavor whatsoever. They're covered in about 1 pound of shredded cheese and tasteless sour cream. Tried to fix the meal by adding salsa (green and red) and salt. That was disappointing. The salsas have no flavor either and all they accomplished was making my food look colorful. No, the visual appeal did not make up for the tastelessness of the meal. The potato rolled tacos would have been tasty had they been seasoned and not covered in 5 pounds of shredded cheese and coarsely chopped iceberg lettuce. The tortillas also tasted like they'd been fried in old oil and the amount of potatoes actually in the taco is laughable at best. Their dining area has giant roll up hangar windows which is lovely if you like eating and swatting flies away in-between each bite of the underwhelming food. If you want delicious Mexican food, there are much better options in this are that are only a few minutes down the street.

Ordered the two enchiladas combo (one chicken one beef) and a Don Nono both were good. I think I rank the carne asada here better than Cotixan but not as good as Vallarta. I might have been starving but the enchiladas were excellent to me. The beans and rice we the standard Mexican fair and it was good. The Corn cake was interesting and sweet, worth trying. The Horchata was just fine. I think the big benefits to this place over Vallarta is there is a place to sit indoors, plenty of parking, and not a mass of people, making it a good alternative. Someone else was commenting the staff is always mopping the floor and I think that is actually valid, that happened to me too. I would rather they mop after they close (well, unless there is a spill or something).

Giving two stars only because the lady at the register was very friendly and accommodating. The food however was one star. I ordered the chargrilled fish tacos after I was told they are mahi-mahi. At $6.60 each, I definitely paid a mahi mahi price too. When I got the tacos home however, I could barely taste the fish in the first taco so I decided to take the others apart to see what was actually in it. To my dismay as a self respecting pescatarian, they gave me tilapia. That is straight up food fraud. If you’re out of mahi-mahi just say that you’re out of it. Don’t sub tilapia and charge the premium price while lying to the customer. Won’t be returning.

This used to be a good restaurant that we've been patronizing for years. Now the food is so inconsistent that we will not go any longer. Ordering a Machaca burrito will get you either all egg and no meat or mostly meat but not a blend of both or much in the way of cheese, peppers or anything else. Huevos Rancheros is a scant resemblance of what it used to be. The eggs are hard instead of over easy and the smallest eggs you've ever seen. They no longer have a salsa bar even though Covid has been a past memory for quite some time. If you want more than two salsa containers, they begrudgingly provide it making you feel as though you're not entitled. Prices are much higher and I don't mind paying a higher price but the quality needs to be equal to the price. If this restaurant wants to survive the post Covid era they need to get back to the value and service that...

I used to come here a lot, but then my orders kept getting messed up. After a few years. My friend and I in order super nachos, a salad, and a fish burrito. They didn’t give us a chip so we had to ask for them even though they come with the meal, the super nachos that my friend bought were but she ate them anyway.

The biggest problem was the fish burrito as it was not only cold, but the fish was dark and old when we called, everyone pretended not to speak English, and then we came in they practically threw the receipt back. My mom said they wouldn’t replace it. They wouldn’t give us the money back and would only thing replace was the fish burrito . They had a massive attitude, a very bad attitude and this is the last time we’re coming. I told him that I was going to give them...
