I've been eating here since I was a little kid; in fact, when my father moved to the United States during his college years, he came here during their first year of opening. Though there may be some "familial bias" with my review of Maxim's, let me just say that the quality and selection of food here hasn't ever left me dissatisfied, even after over 20 years of eating here.
To share a fairly recent experience this past year: I had a small catering order for an event that requested authentic Chinese food. At that time, I hadn't gone out to many of the traditional Asian eateries since 2020 (mostly because they closed either temporarily or permanently). The first place that came to mind was Maxim's Seafood, and I was ecstatic to hear that they were able to fulfill my request. The order was ready at the stated time, prepared well, and an itemized receipt was already attached (this is useful for those who request reimbursement for company events). The same couple who has been running this restaurant for decades is still there, and still puts in as much effort to ensure guest satisfaction and tasty food, no matter the economic circumstances all of us have faced.
If you're looking for authentic and delicious Chinese/Vietnamese food (i.e. roast duck, Phó, sauteed cuisine, etc.), please give these folks a try. They deserve the support, especially in these unprecedented times. I will be returning as much as possible, even though I live 30 minutes north. It's worth it,...
Read moreFirst time here since it’s been under new ownership. It’s the same owners as Purple Mint! Which is next door. Makes me wonder if they share the same kitchen because Purple Mint is vegetarian.
I love how the new space is now bright, simple minimalist decor. The food was A++ and we will be back many more times. We love the traditional cơm phần (family style) meal.
We ordered the 2-3 family meal ($55) -sweet and sour tamarind soup -catfish clay pot -fried pork cutlets -water spinach (rau muống)
Also ordered: -salted fish chicken fried rice -1/4 pound roasted duck
The soup had the spongy plant (elephant ear), okra, bean sprouts, pineapple, tons of cat fish filets. The soup had the right amount of tamarind, sweet and sour.
Fish clay pot also had lots of fish filet. We liked everything in this set. Only mistake was not ordering the next one up which had the clams!
The chicken salted fish fried rice was the least favorite. It didn’t have the strong salted fish smell or taste. Had more chicken than salted fish.
The parking lot is really small. Not many spaces and it’s one way in, one way out. It’s great that Paris bakery closes early. Leaving spaces for Maxim’s and Purple Mint. The area is also a little bit sketchy if you have to park...
Read moreNever tried this local restaurant until today lunchtime, I came at 1PM on this Friday, just only us and another family at that time so it's really quiet.
