This was hands down the worst meal I've had in quite a while. The side salad was the best part and it was quite unremarkable.
I ordered the veal parmesan, Which came with a side salad, A small side of spaghetti, Some steamed vegetables, And a side of garlic bread. I can't speak about the garlic bread. Because I don't eat bread like that. The spaghetti was dry and had barely any sauce on it. The steamed vegetables had a weird After taste. Which I didn't like but other than that they were just steamed vegetables.
The veal was lightly undercooked, but I don't have a problem with that as much as I do with the veal itself. The veal itself was disgusting. It was very thinly sliced meat that is then either compressed back together or "glued" back together. It was very evident when looking closely that the veal was made up of very thin slices of meat.
The antipasto salad looked good, it was as you would expect covered in deli meats and cheeses, as well as some pickled veggies like cauliflower and carrots. (Which I normally love) the pickled veggies tasted like someone added fish juices to the pickling jar. I'm not a fan of fish so this was very off-putting to me. But the deli meat and cheeses were rotten. Not sure if it was the meat or the cheese or both but at least one of them was rotten.
I ordered carryout and I should have honestly left as soon as I walked in because the place smelled like dirty socks to me.
Needless to say, I will not be returning and I'm not looking for a free meal there...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went for an early dinner on Tuesday afternoon. It was not busy, so we sat at a nice booth. Our server was very sweet and prompt. I had the tortellini with mushroom cream sauce. It was excellent. Large slices of mushroom were cooked perfectly. reminded me of steakhouse style. The cream sauce was clearly homemade and divine. My boyfriend got the spaghetti and red sauce and added sausage (it came as 2 large patties on the side with sauce). The sausage was a little mild for his taste, but he felt like it was good quality. Someone recently posted that they got cold food. Well, ours was served visibly steaming and I had to wait quite a few minutes before I could take a bite. The garlic bread was buttered and toasted sandwich roll. Nothing to write home about, but it did the job. Everything was clean: floor, bathroom, utensils. It's looking a little rundown. I don't know how business is overall, but this restaurant is maintaining food quality, which is more important than new...
Read moreWe have been going to Mona Lisa on Waring Road for 42 year. This is the best pizza I have ever tasted and I'm from Chicago so I know pizza. It is a thinner crust than the Chicago pizza but it is amazing. They spare no amount of cheese and the Italian sausage and pepperoni are the best quality. Don't know why Americans call it "Italian" sausage because we have been to Italy numerous times and they don't have sausage any where near what we call "American" Italian sausage. Salami is what they serve on your pizza in Italy if you want a spicy meat. So...that being said we go no where else other than Mona Lisa on Waring Road for our pizza. Yes, it is getting quite pricey but well worth the extra dollars. The guys behind the counter that make the pizza work so hard to make a quality product. Kudos to them. The restaurant is quaint and the servers are very friendly. Our go to place for a great...
