Porkyland Mexican Grill - Torrey Hills Center — Restaurant in San Diego

Porkyland is truly dead.... I used to go to their original location in Logan Heights when I was a kid and had fond memories of how good it was. Naturally I was very excited to discover they were still around. Unfortunately It was a complete letdown.

The upgrade from Logan Heights to Del Mar and Carmel Valley had a severe effect on their food. I decided to try their Carne asada torta but ended up getting basically an onion torta as it was mostly onion (even though I had asked for no onion) the carne asada in the torta that I did find was surprisingly flavorless. I ended up drowning it in hot sauce to get it down as their salsas were equally flavorless.

After spending $30 on a torta a burro bowl and a kids meal for my family I was left with buyers remorse. That money could have been spent at any random taco shop and I can almost guarantee I would have been much more satisfied.

The best I can say about the food here is that it was edible. Not exactly a ringing...

ordered a burrito to go (which i paid for in-store) and i left right away to go deliver an order from porkyland to their mobile delivery customer, as to not waste time. when i went to pick it up, after the delivery loop, it wasnt there ..so they said they could make another but that theyd have to charge me again for the same burrito and said to look around in a few days to see if they charged me for the first burrito. boo ! where is the customer service there !? wont be back even if its good lol 😝 i sat there for about 10 minutes to decide what to do, since i had just driven 40 minutes out of my way to pick up this already paid for burrito. after realizing i was quite frustrated, i bought the second burrito (which was really just still the first burrito). i tipped well both times so i actually paid $38 for one carne asada burrito. they didnt really seem like it was a big deal that my burrito was missing. i would avoid this place, just...

Honestly I'm not one to write a bad review but considering everything I'm just irritated. I work near the area and have eaten here a handful of times. The food is average at best. I'm not even complaining about the taste. I just dont understand why their food is so pricey and I cant even get a full portion of food. It feels like every time I come here the portions are somehow smaller? Its b.s honestly. I paid $49 for a basic chicken salad. Carne asada fries and 2 orders of 3 rolled tacos. I knew the salad portion was small so I asked for extra chicken. It was $5 just for extra chicken and did i see extra chicken? Nope. Same tiny portion as usual. My 10 year old ate the carne asada fries and finished them. He looked at me and said I'm still hungry. Which didnt surprise me at all.
