Quality Taste Pot — Restaurant in San Diego

Some places are really tucked away and unassuming. Quality Taste Pot is one of them. We had a group of 7 and had heard this place was great. As we parked in the pretty empty parking lot for a Saturday night, the sign barely visible from the main road we couldn’t help but smell delicious food.

Walking in you’ll find plenty of tables that can be made to accommodate bigger parties than just traditional 4.

The server/owner came over and suggested a few key items along with hot pot rice and pork, pot stickers, hot (spicy) fried fish, seafood soup cooked in broth at your table. Along with some other dishes I cannot remember. But she is great at suggesting if you tell her what you like and don’t like.

Anyhoo our table was soon taken over with all the hot delicious dishes. We tore through them and ordered an additional scallion pancake and red bean paste sesame balls for dessert. All in all it was wonderful. Throughout the meal we were checked on and made to feel like part of the family. What a great and family friendly place.

We wanted to try this place cause it gives us points for our dreamtrips. So we ordered 2 hot pot soup, lamb skewer, pork skin skewer and scallion pancakes. We had to asked the waiter 2 times to get water. And when our orders came. We tried it. Their broth was so bland. But I was like okay. Let put some spices. After I stirred it around. I was like. What the heck is that. Omg. I cannot believe that there was a hair on my food. Lost my appetite. I called the waiter and showed it to him. All he said was OMG. They brought my bowl in the back. I told them I dont want any replacement meal. The owner was there. No one even apologize about it. Or even came to our table and talked to us. The whole time we was sitting there. Their chef came out the kitchen twice. The 1st time was to smoke outside under the stairs. It was very unprofessional for a chef/cook to be in front of your establisment and sit ther just to smoke. Quite disappointed in this establishment. I’ve been coming here for many months know and have had their chicken wings multiple times

Today, I decide to order them to go, knowing how great they are and inexpensive. With my knowledge of how they are I obviously know that for 6 chicken wing pieces they are $6.99.

So today, I order on the phone to go for two order of salt and pepper chicken wings. If my math is correct, 2 salt and pepper chicken wings would equally, $13.98 plus 8% tax making it $15.09.

So tell me why QT pot, why was I charged $18.84 instead?

Service charge? Combo with lunch? From the looks of my to go box, I did not get any rice or anything.

How unfortunate...

I could’ve avoided the situation and could’ve asked for a receipt, but only got the credit card receipt or should I have said something when I saw on the credit card screen it said $17 and she punched in $18.84 instead. Unless they have told me a price change.
