I recently visited your mira mesa location to purchase some takeout lunch. As a new local business owner in the area, I often drive past Best Pizza and decided to stop in and give it a try.
I arrived at approximately 2:30 PM and noticed the signage stating that happy hour runs from 2–4 PM, offering $2.50 pizza slices. I ordered four slices—two for myself and two for one of my employees. However, when my order was rung up, I was charged full price, approximately $20.
Curious about the discrepancy, I asked the cashier why I was charged full price during happy hour. She informed me that the happy hour pricing only applies to dine-in orders. While I understand policies may vary by business, I believe this restriction creates a missed opportunity for a positive customer experience, especially for patrons like myself who rely on takeout for convenience due to the demands of running a business.
Takeout orders typically reduce operational costs for a restaurant—there is no need for table service, cleanup, or maintenance of the dining space. Offering happy hour pricing for takeout could foster goodwill and encourage repeat business. Instead, I left with a negative impression, feeling penalized for opting for takeout.
After I paid, I looked around for any signage or fine print, I may have missed, indicating that happy hour pricing was limited to dine-in customers. Unfortunately, I found no such clarification. Without clear communication, this comes across as misleading, which could harm the trust and rapport between your business and potential customers...
Read more0 stars for poor customer service, lack of follow up, and double charging us an order placed over a month ago.
The charges were for 45.94 and 54.94. Our order was placed online for a total of 42.94 with a $3 tip added when we picked up the order (45.94 was the correct charge).
After making multiple calls, we were told each time to expect a call back from a Manager.
The only time we were called back was on 12/19, from Mike, who left us a voicemail saying that his General Manager approved the refund due to a "user error" on their end and we should expect to see the refund in a couple days.
That was 3 weeks ago... After not seeing a refund, we called last week and was promised (again) a call back from a Manager. Obviously I didn't hold my breath for a call back, so we called today and finally spoke with someone who could give an update -- Resolution: they couldn't refund the 2nd charge and we needed to call our bank to file a dispute.
So, for some reason, they can't return our money and it took them over a month to confirm this?
Self admittedly (thanks for confirming this Mike, we saved your voicemail), this was an error on their end. So why don't we don't get our money back for an incorrect charge? Basically Best Pizza stole $54.94 from us and is unwilling to admit their error and pay us back.
Just an FYI to Management, you lost a customer due to this. This place is a joke. Keep your fingers crossed that our credit card company approves the dispute and quickly...
Read moreEDIT: new info current as of January 11th 2019! So I edited my review while at the restaurant. Later that evening (10th) we noticed that someone on the staff decided to charge my debit card and extra $11.85 transaction! I absolutely do not recommend anyone eating here until they figure out who on their staff is a thief. And if you do go. Pay cash. Protect yourself.

EDIT: as of January 10th 2019. Dropping this to a 2 star. Here's why (you can see my 8mo old review below unedited)... Although the beer selection has gotten more independent and less commercial. Yesterday service was lack luster. Today, even worse. 4 Staff members looked at me then went and helped other people, finally one asked what I was waiting for! Ordered my beer, watched the beertender take 3 other orders after mine printed, then fill mine. Put it down at the tap, then fill the others, give them to those people, and finally pick mine up to figure it who ordered it.
Do yourself a favor and go to ballast point Scripps Ranch, and get your pizza and beer there.
(Old review, from March 2018): Staff is always kind. I bring in young children. If the music is too loud, they'll turn it down...
The ranch is off the charts. Beer selection seems Moe corporate, more vendor push than in years past, but there's always something good.
Slice deals at the end of the night, Thursday tap takeovers give you take home glasses! And the deserts,...
