Otay Mesa-Nestor Branch Library — Attraction in San Diego

Unfortunately I don’t drive, I use my board and transit wherever I go. I finally made time to visit my local library down the street to make copies of a few documents and was denied entry due to my board. I explained I had multiple occasions of having lost, stolen, or misplacing my boards in the past. And that with all due respect I can’t leave it under anyone’s supervision as it doesn’t lie under either the staff or security’s responsibility as they clearly stated to me. I just needed to make copies. I had gone to this location a year ago or so to renew my library card and there was no problem unless it’s a new policy. I called and asked for a manager and they asked what this was about and when I explained and asked for the manager again they said they were on break.. I couldn’t help but feel as a so called “red flag” as we say in my retail job, I understand how I may look apart from others, but this definitely saddened me. I’m on my way to another branch this time with my partner in case they have the same policy I’ve absolutely never heard of, so he may keep an eye on it outside....

Real nice, quiet, and wonderfully filled with books! Any book lovers dream come true! Even on a cold wet rainy January afternoon:) It was my first time visiting this branch location, and I was able to enjoy the periodicals section. Chairs, seats, and tables are plentiful for the size of the branch location. I did not have issue finding a chair to spend some time reading despite other library card holders having the same idea to escape the rain to do homework, read, study, or do all three. You do not have a library card? No problem. Sign up for one. The librarians would be happy to help you....

Place is great! It has a lot of parking available, great natural lighting, a really nice view and super friendly staff members. It also has outdoor seating perfect for a warm afternoon. My only issue was the collection itself, it lacks variety of materials and the databases could be upgraded. This is obviously system wide and not only applicable to this branch. Other than that, it’s a cool spot to get some work done or just...
