Aroma Buena Cafe — Restaurant in San Francisco

I thought we were going to order take out for some sandwiches to go at Piccolo Pete’s Deli, but when we arrived all we found was The Aroma Buena Cafe at Bayshore Blvd near Tunnel Ave. Although the menu was limited, l was delighted with my Turkey and Provolone Sandwich on a French roll and my friend ordered the Special which was some sort of spicy Buffalo chicken sandwich. I could tell by the look on his face that he was disappointed with the small selection ...But ...we drove down Tunnel Avenue and under 101 to enjoy them out by the bay where Candlestick Point was located on a map. While eating in our car he commented on how good he thought his sandwich was, far beyond his expectations. Mine was so large, l could only eat half! We then took a quick walk out to the water’s edge but didn’t want to leave the car for long, due to dubious surroundings. It is where the parking lots for Candlestick Park once were. If you continued on down Gilman, into the Bayview, you reach 3rd Street. Remnants of the former 49er glory, we passed Bill Walsh Way, etc. They still had the metering light structures up over the road. Anyway, although the Aroma Buena Cafe closes at 2 pm they were delighted to have our take-out business during the pandemic. I was a bit sad to see that the former Piccolo Pete’s was no...

Straightforward corner cafe serving coffee, standard breakfast items, gourmet sandwiches and select Latin specialties (e.g. Argentine empanadas).

Chicken empanadas, though tasty, a bit pricey — coming out to $6 for a smallish pastry.

Set in historic Piccolo Pete’s, the menu is significantly more streamlined compared to the past. Nice mural and view of San Bruno Mountain in the background. Near-always sunny...

Piccolo Pete's was the place to go for a good sandwich before a game at Candlestick Park. A local neighborhood institution gone. I'm glad this family opened the Aroma Buena Cafe. Decent prices- ($3.50) for a cappuccino and ($2.25) for a small cup of coffee. Very wonderful and warm family working and serving you. They make and serve great coffee drinks.
