Great little hidden gem in the Tenderloin. It’s tough finding good banh mi and I’d argue here is better than Saigon Sandwich. Larger selection to pick from and feels a bit higher quality. Rest of the menu is also great, with a lot few dishes I haven’t been able to find outside of Vietnam
Vietnamese is the spoken language there but the menu is in english - no trouble at all ordering. Workers are extremely nice. Need more authentic places like here in the city
A brightly colored cafe tucked away from the griminess of Hyde st. With a handful of tables it's cozy spot to dine in or also takeaway. The owner is the sweetest and you get a real sense of community here. Their banh mi are light and fresh - a focus on flavor rather than quantity. They also somehow have a supply of Vietnamese coriander which I've personally never seen offered elsewhere, it's rare to find. My two recommendations would be to get their fish cake and their sweet pork meatball sandwiches. The owner has made all the banh mi I've ever gotten from there and she genuinely has an eye for detail. You can't go wrong with anything here. They've also got a phenomenal, and small, noodle soup menu. And grab a $2 bean or corn pudding while you're at it. And a...
Read moreOkay y’all already know the banh mi places that get all the praise in the neighborhood, but let me put you on the REAL best banh mi in SF! This place is the real deal man, it’s been flying under the radar.
The pork meatball (banh mi xiu mai) is literally one of the best sandwiches in SF. But on top of that, let me tell you what makes this place standout to its competitors.
The sandwiches here are made with a lot of care, it’s not rushed like other places. Here everything comes evenly assembled, and warm.
it is incredibly CLEAN inside, unlike many places in the TL. Here hygiene is clearly a priority which is a nice change.
The quality of the food is high, and it’s at a unbelievable price. Also the menu has more Vietnamese items that seem phenomenal that I didn’t have a chance to try yet, but I’m sure it’s all good.
You can actually sit inside and eat your food, away from the chaos outside, in a peaceful charming interior. And you can add sauces to your sandwich as you like, and wash it down with a lovely tea.
This place is overall so authentic. From the staff working there, the food, everything is so perfect. Really can’t wait to come back to support them and keep...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the city. I don’t get pho when I come here tho, I tend to get all the other traditional dishes that they have. It’s Vietnamese family owned and the flavors here are closest to authentic Vietnamese food (most Vietnamese restaurants in the city are Chinese owned). Their English isn’t the best, but they’re very sweet people. I read a review below talking about the three ladies begrudging them, I highly doubt that. Real talk, all Asian aunties with tatted eyebrows look aggressive af and a lot of Asians in general have major RBF. However, they don’t mean any harm.
I’ve been meaning to leave a review for the longest time but I got a new phone so all my photos from here are gone. Here’s the BBH that I got today, it’s not spicy at first but it gets more spicy as you eat it. It doesn’t have the heavy shrimp paste taste and has a generous amount of beef (no pork hock tho).
Also...it’s CASH ONLY so remember to...
