Moving Forward — Local services in San Francisco

The job that Luis and his team performed was poor. They were hired to pack and load my 1BR apartment into a standard sized U-Pack Cube for 4-5 hours and to provide materials.

The team arrived promptly, was courteous and worked very quickly with the packing. I estimate they finished the packing in ~2 hours. We then waited for approximately 90 minutes for the U-Pack Cube to be dropped off. The team took “a break” as there was downtime and nothing to do. That is understandable.

The problem was that the team did not do a sufficient job of loading the items into the cube — and as it turns out — did not do a sufficient job either of packing my items into boxes efficiently. The team left close to 10 items—some pieces of furniture and 1 box—and claimed they could not fit it in. I was shocked, as I had made a similar move with a similar amount of items from NYC to Oakland, using the same size cube. Luis seemed very eager to wrap up the job and move on. He did not express any interest in wanting to staying longer to remove items from the cube and do a proper packing job. When the time came to pay — the payment app required me to leave gratuity.

Not willing to leave all of these crucial items behind, I hired two Task Rabbit workers that very day. The 3 of us took a few hours to re-pack the cube, properly. We had to open up boxes that Luis and his team packed, only to discover that many of the boxes were less than full, thus taking up unnecessary space! We managed to pack a majority of the left behind furniture items (certainly the most important pieces) into the cube and all of the revised boxes.

This was not what I expected from a professional moving service (and especially not at their price point). I had reached out to them for an explanation and partial refund but they gave no response. I will not be recommending this service to anyone in my community in...

From the phone call to book the movers, to the move itself, I had an amazing experience. First and foremost, Cheli, the woman who answered the phone was an absolute delight. She answered my questions and explained everything with patience and kindness. She spoke highly about the movers and set my expectations high. The movers, Manuel and Elder, exceeded my already high expectations. Not only did they have the best attitude, but they worked with efficiency and carefulness that I greatly appreciated. My belongings were heavy, the drive in traffic was over an hour, and the trek to my new apartment was hard. It was a long walk from the parking space, then needed different keys, a small elevator, and a long walk to the actual unit itself. Manuel and Elder handled every single step perfectly. I quite literally had no worries when they were loading and unloading. Genuinely the epitome of hard workers. I can not say enough good things. I've used movers before, but have never had this great of an experience. I actually have more items at my old place and have booked them for a second time in one week. process to book was organized and tech savvy. we got COl exactly as was requested by HOA in 2-3 days.

movers showed up on time at 8 am in the morning. it was Luis and 1 more person.

they did such an amazing job of moving so much of our stuff in such a safe manner that we were so happy.

very easy to work with and communication in English was perfect. very understanding of different instructions and requests.

they wrapped everything in plastic wrap and used blankets for all furniture. we moved a big seater recliner, large bookshelf, 65 inch LG oled tv, TV cabinet with glass windows, tall dressing mirror, ping pong table, 2 king mattresses and bed frames.

they worked very fast and hard and efficiently. it took us 7 hours to complete the move for all the stuff we had from large items to small items.

very fair and transparent pricing and we can pay using credit card. win-win for everyone.

will definitely reuse Moving Forward movers again in future and recommend them...
