Incredible food and service, disappointing and confusing wine menu.

We really enjoyed the food, we got the Parisian Gnocchi, the Snap Pea Salad, the Vinegar Fries, and the Tempura Mushrooms. All of it was delicious and fresh, and it was one of the best meals I've had in SF in a long time. The food prices were pretty reasonable, the portions were a bit small but not pretentious. Our waiter was also very friendly and gave us some great recommendations.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but the beverage experience really downgraded the meal. They charge you a corkage fee to open any bottle you buy from them. Yes, you read that right, if you order a bottle of wine off of their menu, they charge you an additional $25 corkage fee. Also, they charge you a $2 corkage fee if you order a beer or cider from their menu. Charging a corkage fee for wine and beer we are buying directly from you made absolutely no sense to me. A corkage fee is something that should be charged when you BYOB, not when you purchase directly from the restaurant. I get that the wines are priced at "retail price", but it would make much more sense to just increase the price of each bottle by a little bit rather than to charge a corkage fee.

The wine list was impressive and had a lot of good wine, but we didn't even bother ordering a bottle because we didn't want to pay a corkage fee, especially a $25 one. My advice to Ungrafted: get rid of the corkage fees, increase each bottles price by $5-10, and offer a 10-15% discount to people who just come in and buy a bottle of wine to go. The current pricing system discourages people from spending time at your restaurant and enjoying a bottle of wine...

Went here for a friends birthday (6 ppl) and from the moment we arrived I could feel a positive experience.

Had to go use the restroom upon arrival. The sinks to the restroom are the in hallway to the restroom to not clog the restroom wait time (smart).

There was a holiday party happening inside so we sat in a parklet. They had heat lamps which made sitting outside more palatable.

The waiter kept the wine flowing, one sweet and one red, both were good. He was very knowledgeable of the menu, kept checking in on us, made sure or water and wine glasses were full and even informed us of the long wait time for our food while we were ordering (mainly the streak).

The salt and vinegar fries they have a parmesan cheese texture but there is no cheese on them. Highly recommend.

The deviled egg was great too. The smoked trout added the extra but not over powering flavor.

2 of us had the hanger steak, and the steak was cooked to perfection.

3 of us had that risotto and they all devoured it. Saying is was amazing.

1 of us had the chicken. I tried a piece of the chicken and it was juicy with a little crunch on the skin. I'll probably have this next time.

The brownie with the peanut sauce was great. The browning was rich and the peanut sauce added an wonderful touch of flavor.

Chris, the owner, came out to wish my friend a happy birthday. His energy is contagious and he was really appreciative of out business. He mention most of his customers visit often and I can see why. This is a great restaurant with great service and sometimes that is hard to find.

Highly recommend and I will be...

Ungrafted is my happy place in San Francisco. I dine here frequently and it is always an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, which sets the perfect tone for a memorable evening.

Owners Rebecca and Chris are both master sommeliers who have curated an outstanding wine program at their restaurant. The wine selection is unparalleled. Each bottle is carefully selected, offering a diverse range of options that cater to every palate. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their wines, providing insightful recommendations that have enhanced our meals.

It's such a welcoming, unpretentious environment! Everyone that works there goes out of their way to remember who you are so that you're welcomed back by your first name when you return for a second visit.

The cuisine is exceptional. Each dish is crafted with the finest ingredients and presented beautifully. The flavors are exquisite, and the menu perfectly complements the impressive wine list.

They have a super fun, affordable wine club and once you're a member you can attend their monthly wine club socials. As an extrovert, it's definitely the highlight of my month socially. My partner and I have made a lot of friends through Ungrafted (as most of ours left SF during the pandemic).

Ungrafted is a gem for wine lovers and food enthusiasts alike. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a fun night out in SF for...
