You'd think that there's almost no way to complain about a free drink, but unfortunately Bubble Republic was able to prove me wrong :(.
Came here for the grand opening because they had a free boba milk tea promotion, and although the tea was not bad/decent, everything else about this place really left a lot to be desired.
The price of the drinks is pretty high, so although we were able to get this drink for free, prepare to spend ~$5 for a small drink here. The quality of the drinks themselves are decent, although they have this weird powdery taste to the milk teas, and I thought they used real milk, so that was rather unexpected.
We also opted to try their popcorn chicken and king oyster mushroom because we got a free drink. Both of them were probably one of the worst iterations of the foods I've ever had. They had the same powdery taste in the outside crusts, but the popcorn chicken itself tasted somewhat sour(?) and was just rubbery. The mushrooms were decent, but again not worth an above $5 price tag.
The worst part of this place though has to be the unreasonable wait for your drinks. I'm hoping this is just a glitch because it just opened, but it seems like they make their drinks out of order? So we noticed a lot of people waiting for their drinks although they already had half their order, and then other people getting their drinks first. It was really confusing, and honestly a little bit annoying.
The Wifi here is also beyond slow, so don't bother trying to get any work done. And although people are saying that this place is better than whatever, I felt like the music here was even louder than it was before.
Our waitress was probably the saving grace of our visit, she was super attentive and more than wiling to go back to get refills of our waters and extra dipping sauces.
Will probably come by in a few months to see if they've gotten their act together, but definitely a...
Read moreAs a bubble tea lover, I delve into another boba tea place. And this time it's the Bubble Republic, a midsize Taiwanese boba tea shop in the SGValley. They are located at a small plaza by N. Mission Road and Main street. I came here on a late afternoon to check it out. As I entered the shop, a staff gave a warm perfunctory greeting. Indoor and outdoor atmosphere were very relaxing and chill. I perused their menu which has copious amount of boba teas, fruit drinks, smoothies, shakes, snacks and food meals. It took me a minute or so to decide and end up choosing one of their top 16 drinks. I chose Aloe Grass Jelly Honey Juice with boba pearl. It was concocted with pure perfection in sweetness and flavor. Similarly, its jelly and boba pearl were soft and chewy. Service was moderately fast. Prices were very fair and competitive. Staff were amiable and professional. Also, they offer free WiFi. Parking lot was large and easy to park. Overall, I had an ebullient drink and order experience. It's one of the best tea place in LA and will come back again.I highly recommend the...
Read moreThere are lots of boba drinks places around here and this is one of the better ones. The drinks are unique and made with care. The manager/owner made sure drinks were made correctly and offered samples. Food came out fairly quickly and they are tasty. Service was great and waitress was attentive.
Drink prices were fair to their competitors. Food prices were a bit higher, but if you pay $1 more, you get a large drink. So, the combo deal is the way to go.
I had to take one star away because their air condition was either weak, not functioning properly, or they didn't want to turn it up during a scorching Saturday (109 F). They used fans to circulate air and they offered free mini size mango slush for people. The parking lot was tiny and shared with 2 other stores, so you probably have to find...
