My friends told me to go to the Indian because it is the "Taiwanese version of Hooters". That still cracks me up today because I don't see the similarity. Anyways, this is a Indian (native American) themed restaurant that serves Taiwanese food. Interesting.. I still cannot figure out how they came up with this idea. Its like combining Bacon and chocolate. HHmmm Bacconn and Chocolate. None the less here is my review. Besides the "cute" waitresses dressed in Indian outfits (black clothes and feather in their hair), Indian serves delicious authentic Taiwanese food. Taiwanese food is different.. most of the time only native Taiwanese can appreciate this. The food was good a bit pricey. This is a great place for parties because it similar to a sports bar atmosphere. So keep the beers coming and order a lot of dishes to share. If you are trying to impress your date don't order Stink tofu! If anything this place is the opposite of the Hooters restaurant because there are no owls just Indian waitresses. The average person might find the food strange. If you are Taiwanese you will love it here. For me it was a delicious and unique experience. Recommended if you are a fan of Andrew Zimmern bizarre foods, but if you aren't just drink the beer...
Read moreI use to come to Indian's at least once a week with my friends but time has changed and I am just not into girls dressed up in indian costumes!
So why the 2 stars? Well, the lady taking our order knew precisely I am a vegetarian and everything I ordered came with no meat and I thought they were taking very good care of us by even asking if Onion and garlic would be okay on the dishes.
Later another girl comes out and brings out a dish and gave us such terrible attitude and said this dish COMES with meat, we had to pick it out one at a time.... I mean, than why the heck did you offer it ? She didn't apologize and kind of said it like it was a matter of fact and that they were already doing us a huge favor! Rudeee!
In the end we kept the dish but just had it sitting there...i later reminded her if she can please let us know ahead of time if dishes had meat in them and if it had to be picked out than i Don't want it! ...I mean I spoke to her in her native tongue to excuse...
Read moreI have been to Uncle Yu's Indian Theme Restaurant many times. Each time I am more than satisfied with the tastiness of their authentic taiwanese style dishes. Don't expect any Indian food in here or you will be very dissapointed. I also like their selection of beers. You don't often find a restaurant with this selection in this area of town, and you can get a whole pitcher for the table and enjoy it with friends. They even have my favorite style Belgian beers. Only negatives are that the servers seem a bit hurried at times and are not always able to be attentive, and some of the decorations such as the "logs" on the wall look like they haven't really been cleaned all that much over...
