Looking for a place to grab late dinner... we found ourselves in the old SanGerman area. Reminiscing of Caribbean spanish heritage, the atmosphere was delightful on a Saturday night. As it was somewhat late, we jumped into Our main course right away. A very flavorfull ribeye steak perfectly seasoned which is 'just right' for my expectations (Im not a super fan on my meat to be greatly modified and was just looking for that familiar meat taste) so my taste buds were greatly appreciative on this experience. Second dish was a Filete de Dorado which really opened my eyes with a very flavorfull blend of spices and herbs which kept me asking for another byte just the explore these flavors even more. Chef came to our table to say hi and greet us and ask how we were doing. I could tell right away that he loves what he does and cares for his craft in the kitchen.
Chef blends Haitian blends into his plates which to me adds that Caribbean cuisine flavor with a very tastefull experience not commonly found. All in all , we thank Yi Restaurant for a lovely and fun evening!
Note: Try their Lemon Cake (not Pie...Cake)... no picture included tonight, but surely will seal the deal for dessert lovers or for someone just looking for...
Read moreBEST RESTAURANT in all of south-west PR!!! My wife is from PR and we’ve traveled all over PR eating at different places. I honestly am not a fan of PR restaurant because the food is either too salty, over cooked, or bland. So much so that I’d rather eat cup noodles or not eat at all than go out to eat but I was always left with disappointment. I also enjoy eating balanced meals, which a lot PR places does not offer. However THIS place exceeded all my expectations!!!! The pickled carrots and peppers offered the perfect amount of acidity and freshness to balance out the hardiness of the fried pork. The fried plantains offered the sweetness to counter the heat from the pickled carrots and peppers. The mashed roots were not overly seasoned which allowed us to taste the natural flavors of the roots. My only regret was that I found this restaurant at the end of my trip!
Oh the the house drink...
Read moreRecently opened so salads weren't the forte in the menu... Pierre, the chef, improvised a salad for me that was heavenly... Beacuse it had oranges, i told him he should call it Las Marias... like my town- home of the oranges... I didn't take a pic. He mingles with the patrons, and you can tell he loves to bring a great product to your table. The pollo.al horn is outstanding. The cod chatequille is like a brucheta... fabulous... Malanga is in many dishes. Fresh acerola juice and others... Great deserts.. Next time it will be the lemon cake.
It is worth...
