I work in the customer service industry, so I am big on customer service and satisfaction. I hold others in this field to the same bar I set for myself, because after all, the customer is your bread and butter. If they donât come back youâll be out of a job.
That being said, the folks working at the Canyons Steakhouse inside the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto have no fear of finding another job. They offer quality service, attention to detail, and more than one person came by the table throughout the hour to see if we needed anything else and were completely satisfied. One of those people was the manager himself. Gerardo Reyes was steadily breaking down tables and resetting them, delivering drinks, and all while wearing a strikingly perfectly tailored suit. We spoke for a bit, and when I brought up how impressed I was with his attention to quality service and that he did not act like breaking down a table was beneath him, he smiled and said, âI like to lead by example.â Lead he does do. Gerardo runs a tight ship that puts quality food onto the table. The Filet Mignon was cooked to order, and thatâs a first for me. The buttery mashed potatoes and the broccoli we had to substitute the asparagus were superb, and the lobster tail complimented the plate of Surf Meets Turf wonderfully. And let me tell you! That NY Cheesecake is still leaving a lasting impression of the final touch on my palette.
The only reason I did not give a five star, is the piano music was a bit loud for my preference. I had to speak loudly across the table to my mom for her to hear me. The table next to us looked at me like I was loud talking her. So not the case!
In the end, my rating is 4.7 out of 5, but thatâs not an option, so Iâll word it here. The piano chipped away 0.3 points, but the meal and service is a definite 6 out of 5 if Iâm being completely honest. Visit them and try the Surf Meets Turf. Your taste buds will thank you while they throw one helluva party. Gerardo awaits you. It is his upmost pleasure to provide a meal youâll be talking about long after youâve enjoyed it. I am...
Read moreSooo... Where to start, 1st I can see why they only offer their tomahawk dinner Wed and Thu. It's cause it's the slowest days of the week and they couldn't get people in without something special. Try though while it wasn't bad. It wasn't very good either really fatty center pieces along with very low flavor. While they did give you 2 sauces to eat with it. I don't want that for a $150 steak dinner. I want the quality flavor of the meat paired with salt and cracked pepper corn. The mash potatoes are basically box instant. The asparagus came out cold so they corrected that and the second set came out very hot but still very very much lacking in any flavor whatsoever. They rely on the hollandaise sauce to actually flavor the asparagus but it doesn't they need to garlic as well as pepper and a little bit of sea salt on their asparagus would make a world of difference. The desserts that's where it wins 100% hands down very good. And if you do a breakdown on it it's not even a close to an $80 steak it's a $40 40 ounce steak is really all it goes down to by the time you pay 10 to $15 for the salads or soup paired with the $15 for the sides and the desserts you literally are left with $40 to 50 maybe for a steak that's truly not very good. I can see why now not I'm in reviews mention that tomahawk steak. Also there's no ambience at all that's really just a boring room of a steakhouse and since there was only two of us they really sat us in a corner up against a wall I will not be going back. On a positive note I will say the staff was amazing and my wife very much enjoyed the blueberry lemon drop I'll be it...
Read moreI was brought to canyons by a friend on Friday. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought I would bring my wife on Valentineâs Day so I made a reservation the next day. I got a call the following Sunday from a girl that explained to me that they had decided to have a Valentineâs Day special. And that if I wanted to eat there on Valentines I had to go off of their Valentines menu. I said thatâs not a problem what is on the menu. She explained to me the menu and then told me what the price was going to be. $225. I said does that come with any drinks she said no I said that sounds like you raise the price substantially from the regular menu she told me hold on and put me on hold. A man came on and said his name was David and asked what I needed. I said I was talking to a girl that was explaining the Valentineâs Day menu. I explained that I had made a reservation and there wasnât any notice about any valentines menu and that the prices seem substantially higher for that day. I said it didnât seem fair that you took my reservation and then after the fact tell me how much I have to spend. He said it was Valentines and everything costs more and that if I didnât like it he would have no problem at all filling every seat in the restaurant. He was very rude so I canceled my reservation and will take my wife somewhere else for Valentines . As a business owner myself I have never made a negative review. I feel like the restaurant business is a very tough business and itâs hard to make people happy. But this has nothing to do with food or service this has to do with poor management and a rude...
