I recently dined at La Coronas, a Mexican restaurant that delivered an impressive culinary experience with its vibrant dishes. First, I savored their wet burrito with green sauce—a true standout. Packed with tender shredded chicken, beans, and rice, the burrito was drenched in a zesty tomatillo sauce that balanced tanginess with a subtle heat. Melted cheese cascaded over the top, adding creamy richness, while the sauce soaked into the tortilla, ensuring every bite was succulent. Served on a simple white plate, the vivid green sauce popped, making it as visually appealing as it was delicious.Next, I tried La Coronas’ combo plate, featuring an enchilada, a chicken flauta, and a fish taco. The enchilada, stuffed with savory chicken and topped with a rich red sauce and crumbled queso fresco, was comforting and perfectly seasoned—a classic done right. The chicken flauta, golden and crispy, offered a satisfying crunch with its juicy filling, elevated by fresh shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream. The fish taco stole the show, with lightly battered fish in a soft tortilla, topped with a zesty slaw that added a refreshing bite. Accompanied by well-seasoned Mexican rice and creamy refried beans, the plate was a delightful medley of flavors. Finally, I sampled their menudo with pig’s feet, a bold and authentic dish. The rich, spicy broth, filled with tripe and tender pig’s feet, warmed me to the core. Fresh cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime enhanced its depth, though the gelatinous texture of the pig’s feet might not suit all palates.La Coronas truly shines with its authentic Mexican fare, blending bold flavors with comforting classics. For anyone craving a hearty, flavorful meal, this spot is a must-visit gem that captures the essence of...

This place is located in the heart of Japan town, which I thought was a bit strange. I believe it is the only Mexican restaurant in Japan town. I passed by several times, but never went in...I didn't have any expectations and didn't think it would be worth eating here...

Um...I was wrong!

The food here is really good. The complimentary salsa tasted fresh and had a good kick to it. We got a wet burrito a few tacos and and enchilada plate.

The wet burrito was one of the better ones I had. Juicy, meaty, tasty sauce, ample amount of meat and full of flavor. Very, very good!

I love the fact you can customize your tacos here, just tell them what you want in it and the way you want it made...got a Milenesa taco! The tacos were the same as well. Done right, plenty of flavor and good amount of meat as well.

The only disappointing things here, were the horchata and the enchilada plate. Nothing special about the enchilada plate, definitely edible, but it did not stand out like the wet burrito or the the tacos. It wasn't bad, just something I would not order here again. I felt the horchata was a bit watered down, lacked flavor and balance.

The service was very good, they checked up on us frequently and are quite friendly. I will...

Went here for dinner. I was promptly seated and served complementary chips and salsa, which were okay. The chips tasted like they were not salted but were just fried tortillas. Unfortunate foreshadowing for the rest of the meal. Ordered the nopalitos for the entree. Nothing had much flavor outside of the pork. The refried beans did not taste seasoned nor did the rice. I have not had nopalitos before so I cannot attest to whether they were good or not. The pork was as mentioned good and tender, but everything else was a disappointment. After finishing the meal the waiter took away my plate but then did not give me a check. 5 - 7 minutes passed and still no check. Stopped and asked the waiter if I could get my check. He appeared to go in the back to get it, but then came out without it. I had to ask the other server working for the check which they finally gave to me. Overall I spent 15 minutes just waiting to pay. Also I should mention the restaurant was not busy which if it was I would totally understand a delay while the servers helped others. Would not...

Finally, today I was able to try this place (lunchtime). Their menu has the "typical" dishes that are mostly asked at Mexican restaurants (but its menu is wide and varied with vegetarian options). The difference is the flavor & texture of the food (I appreciate when I notice that my food is treated with respect) and the service of the staff. I ordered: * Machaca - scrambled eggs with shredded beef, peppers, and onions. It comes with beans, rice, and hand-made corn tortillas. * Regular Quesadilla -flour tortilla. It comes with salad * Chile Relleno a la carta * Lime Margarita* Sidral (apple Mexican soda) As soon as you sit down at your table they bring you complementary chips & salsa (you can ask for more if you wish) and they take your drinks order. You can see, taste, and feel why the place is popular. The prices are very affordable, the place is neat, clean, smells good and you feel safe eating there, so if you are close and want a good food experience I recommend you give this place a try.
