My current favorite Vietnamese vegan restaurant. Ever since my Buddhist best friend introduced me to this vegetarian restaurant, I've been hook. I'm yet a strict/full time vegetarian/vegan yet some week, I opt for more vegetarian food than animal protein. I loved everything we have tried so far. Our repertoire at the restaurant normally includes less or more depending how big is my party but usually includes:
Appetizers: Banana blossom salad Salt & pepper oyster mushroom (deep fried) Rice rolls (we'll call the type of rolls depending on the weather or you can call the combo, mixed rolls so you can try all the variety they offer). Nem nuong aka veggie pork spring roll
Favorite main entree: I'm going to help you guy with the phonetic pronunciation here for non viet, LOL.
Canh Bun (kanh boon- # 24 this is a tomato based soup broth and use the thick rice noodle, the same rice noodle with Bun Hue. They do come with the tiny cup of the pungent fermented tofu paste, a mock version of the shrimp paste of the non vegetarian version of this noodle soup. That tiny cup totally elevated the taste of the noodle soup and made it so close to the animal protein version.
Mi Quang (mee kwang - comes with peanut. A turmeric thick flat noodle soup, very close to the original noodle I remembered having in my childhood in Da Nang province when I was little. Note that this noodle soup style is a little on the dry side, a lot less soup than your average noodle soup as a heads up.
Remaining items on the menu is good, especially the hot pot but just like everything else, I tend to call my favorites whenever I'm there.
Overall, if you're a plant based diner, New Hoa Dang Vegetarian Restaurant is worthy of adding to your list of vegetarian restaurants. If you never had Vietnamese food/cuisine before, then this is the perfect restaurant to explore our cuisine.
They have plenty of che desserts on the menu as...
Read moreSo disappointed in my experience here!! I was very excited to have my vegan friend try this place so I invited her to dinner with her 9 month old baby. Upon arrival we noticed they had signs saying baby strollers weren’t allowed, we asked about this and were told we couldn’t come in and if we wanted service we had to sit outside in the patio. This is was the first red flag as we had a baby not a dog! But since weather was pleasant we agreed. I asked for water and the server brought back my water with some nasty black stuff swimming around and when I told my server, he looked annoyed gave me no apology and just took my cup. Our food was mediocre we ordered chow fun, our least favorite dish, fried rice, fries, and a sampler appetizer which also was not our favorite. Our server never once came to our table during our dinner to ask how everything was or even just to acknowledge us, it wasn’t until the end of our meal when someone other than our server rudely slammed the bill on our table and said “can you pay now we’re closing”. As if things couldn’t get worst when I went to go pay, the server started yelling that my friend still had to pay her half of the bill and that he couldn’t wait on her to pay which i responded what are you talking about i have both payments right here I just paid her half she can’t come bc she has the baby and he looked at me with a sorry face but still offered no apology for assuming and continued to charge me. I still regret leaving a tip but I myself am a server so I felt like I needed to tip but it definitely wasn’t well deserved. The food being so so and the service terrible is not a good combo if you want returning clients. Definitely taking this place...
Read moreOn 02/15/2023, I was so excited to know that I will be having dinner at New Hoa Dang Vegetarian Restaurant. Some of my friends had bragged about the food they serve there, which is really tasty and delicious ... BUT the services though, is entirely a different story... they have SO MUCH ROOM for improvement. We ordered House Special Hot Pot , Banana Flowers Salad , Crispy Young Tofu , Lemongrass Fried Chicken, pot of hot tea, and che Bo Hat Deo . With these much foods and not enough space on a table for three people, we asked for another table for extension, the waiter said NO, they couldn't do so, because they have to reserve others tables for customers, which they still have MANY other empty tables. On another case, next to my table was sitting by an Indian couple, they asked the waitress for a container for the leftover food, the waitress said, "go get it yourselves, it's in the back." … WOW!!! I could not believe what I had heard. All and all, great chef....
