Panaderia La Mejor — Restaurant in San Jose

This small family-owned business does extremely well. From the mouth-watering ham or turkey tortas to the pineapple apple or apricot empanadas, fresh bread, hot coffee and chocolate decorated doughnuts and custom-made cakes to the fresh chicken, beef and jalapeno and cheese tamales, this place might have received a 5 star rating. However, my ratings and reviews are a combination of my experience, observation of customer service towards other customers, accomodation, cleanliness, friendliness are included in my ratings. Why? Because when asked which Panaderia would I recommend, I want to be able to back that recommendation up. The products there get an A+, or 5. The service and staff that bake them get a 1 because the baker in the back sooke only Spanish, and refused Visa Corporations offer to fix their card terminal via phone. I don't appreciate being yelled at like it was my fault their terminal was faulty. Oh well, c'est la vie, Miss me, Im not the one. Where do I start...I love this Bakery however based on my experience ordering a cake I will no longer go here. I ordered a cake with fresh strawberries and was told that it comes with a free jello or flan with my order. the day of the party approximately 25 minutes before pickup time I get call stating there is no strawberry. Ok, so I opted for strawberry jelly. Went to pick up my cake and the owner was in a bad mood, rude. I informed him that where is my free jello. He said he doesn't give free jello. What! I said look at that sign you have there on the wall it states I get a free jello! He was soo mad ripped the sign off the wall in front of all the customers. Told me to grab my jello. I was so heated. Worst bakery ever!!! Ordered a cake here and it’s the worst experience I’ve had. First I show up after the pick up time only for them to tell me that it wasn’t ready. So I had to leave and drive back again. I asked specific questions about the design and specified the colors I wantedI specified I DID NOT want orange on the cake. When I get there to pick up, there is no design on the cake and the whole entire cake is sprayed ORANGE. When I said this is not what I ordered, the cashier rolls her eyes and tells the owner I don’t want the cake. They had no explanation to why I didn’t get what I ordered and the owner would refuse to come out to speak to me when I asked. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and needless to say, I will never be going back there again. Crappiest job...
