Rosita's De Basilio Deli & Market — Restaurant in San Jose

I really enjoyed the corn tortilla chicken enchiladas with salsa verde. Not on the menu, it was a special request and very good. I don't like their chips and salsa served before the main course because they use salty chips and there is some seasoning they use in the salsa that "doesn't belong." I cannot describe it. Is it thyme? Rosemary? Oregano? Basil? I don't know. But the salsa just tastes "off" to me. My friends love the chips and salsa with compliments like "best ever!" But none of them grew up with Mexican food so perhaps that unusual taste is good to them. For me, I prefer more traditional flavors. But I don't want to judge the place on that--it's minor. And the salsa verde they gave me for the enchiladas was entirely different from that served with the chips (and good). Overall, the main course was great and the staff is very friendly. I go there for lunch and it's never crowded. It's always a joy...

To say I frequent this establishment is an understatement. I go not only for the fantastic Chile Colorado burrito and very reasonable pricing but for the very personal and homey service. We are treated like family and just like at Grandmas house, she is back there cooking away! I am transported to my Nana's home, god rest her soul, every time I eat here and part of the charm I crave! Do not miss this spot and I encourage you to sit outside on the patio and enjoy some authentic food made by some fantastic people! Rosita's is my favorite restaurant in Alviso. It's a shame it doesn't get more traffic.

There's a nice outdoor seating area with a lot of shade and a little sun depending on your preference.

The food is incredible. Their chile verde is amazing. Nice spicy green sauce and very tender pork. The carnitas is out of this world too. Fried up crispy with great flavor, it's a preparation I've never had duplicated anywhere else.
