This place is great. They’ve got a buy one get one free al pastor taco deal every Wednesday. I went with some coworkers and we decided to see how many tacos I could eat. I told them I could probably finish 20 tacos, so that’s what I ordered. The lady at the register was like, “Twenty?”, and I was like “Yep, twenty al pastor tacos, please.” I ordered after both my coworkers, so we sat around and waited. More people came and ordered; it’s business as usual. They eventually began to call our order numbers. “Order 86! Order 86!” and my first coworker grabbed his tacos. “Order 87! Order 87!” and my second coworker grabbed his tacos. Now I’m getting ready because I’m next. I’m pretty damn excited because I love tacos. I’m order 88 and I’m next! I just can’t wait to hear her sweet voice announce order 88. Here it comes... “Twenty tacos! Twenty tacos!” Wait, what? They could have just called out the order number like the previous orders, but no, they had to tell the world that I had ordered an obscene amount of tacos. So my coworker are laughing at me as I make the walk of shame up to the window to collect my massive bag of tacos. And there’s the story of the time I was taco-shamed in public.
I ended up tapping out after 18 tacos but it was delicious. 5 stars! Will...
Read moreOne in a chain of TacoManias. This one is for the one on coleman but have also tried the one on 1st street in downtown San Jose across from SJSU.
The parking is a bit limited and small on-site. If you decide to visit this tacomania during prime times you may need to find a spot somewhere nearby and walk over. Also note that because this is still a food truck, they do have a limit on how much they have of some stuff if you come later on in the day. There plenty of seating for eating there and a small salsa bar.
For the service and and food, they were both good and fast. The order itself only took about three to five minutes for three items. The burritos were constructed very well, no layers of only rice or beans but a mix of everything all the way down. They don't use a lot of liquids like a lot of places so if you're into lots of rice, beans, meat etc. you will likely enjoy them.
Overall I enjoyed it a lot but was not able to get my original order of chicken since they ran out but asada wasn't a...
Read moreThey're open late - like almost nothing in San Jose (except Denny's.)
Yes I do think Denny's beats most of the modestly priced restaurants in San Jose and they are open late, making them "win" in this boring town of overpriced mediocrity, but there are exceptions to the generalized suck: taco trucks.
This one is good. They have tables and a covered eating area, and you get to eat with the fellows who do the actual work in this valley (a techie will never use a hammer, he might break a nail! And besides, he doesn't know how to use one) and their families.
This one is not "so" randomly placed, being semi-permanently placed, but these random taco trucks are where it's at unless you want to spin the wheel of San Jose Burger Roulette, where you almost always "win" a McDonald's quality burger with McCormick & Schmick's prices and sub-Denny's atmosphere.
And to the guy who said their Horchata is "watery" - horchata is a hot-weather drink and ideally it's light and...
