El Pollo Loco — Restaurant in San Jose

I just came from this place. I walked in ordered a three piece combo to eat there' they charged my card for the three piece combo. I get my order and it has one wing and one breast. I politely told the lady I ordered and was charged for a three peice. She looks directly at me and says "you didnt pay for that". I told her I did and my card was in fact charged for that. She takes my plate takes the wing off' adds one breast'and says' here' Im giving you this even though you didnt pay for it". Now this an outright insult. As though there doing me a favor after they charged me for a 3 peice meal. I asked for the manager' and made it clear' I did not appreciate the comment made by the employee' as though Im there to get something free and making a statement in front of the dinner croud' as though Im trying to get a way with something. What this store does not know' nor the management is that I work for a internet giant' and if this store manager' and pollo loco does not take immediate action then this store and pollo loco will get a very negative reaction by the public that will in fact hurt there bottom line. Pollo loco save your comment asking me to log on to your website to outline my complaint. By the looks of the reviews' this has been going on for sometime' without any action by the parent company. So I highly advise you to address this complaint'and let paying customers' see your action' rather than asking for your paying customers to log on your site and comments there' so you can address an issue that clearly your already aware of. I stopped by this location today on my hour lunch break at 12:30 pm, thinking it would be 10-15 minutes tops waiting in the drive-thru, but it took much longer than anticipated, and I was in the line for 25-30 minutes to get my salad. When the lady took my order, I asked for the Double Chicken Avocado Salad, and told her I wanted to make it a combo to add on a drink and some chips. She asked me what drink I wanted, and I told her I wanted an unsweetened iced tea. Once I got to the window I asked them for avocado salsa to go with my chips, and the man at the window said "okay" like he understood, and went to get my food. I took my drink and my bag of food, and drove off, because I was already late getting back to my job. I checked the bag and there was no avocado salsa or chips to my disappointment. I didn't have time to go back unfortunately, so I just chalked it up as a loss. I'm not sure if she didn't ring me up properly, or if they left them out by mistake? On top of that, the unsweetened tea they gave me, which was marked as Gold Peak Unsweetened tea on their drive-thru menu, was some type of tropical flavored unsweetened tea and it tasted absolutely terrible. I seriously wonder how a place like this stays in business. Are people’s standards this low? I had never been here before, but saw a long line of cars at the drive-up-window, which should be an indication of a good place to eat. I ordered a chicken avocado burrito. The tortilla was burnt. There was absolutely NO AVOCADO in the burrito — not one bite. They supplied two TINY plastic cups of salsa, and two more of a green sauce — which I assumed was their advertised “cilantro salad dressing.” Was this supposed to substitute for avocado because it was green? The burrito contents were unremarkably bland and tasted like they had been a long time in a steam table keeping warm. But they were overcome by the flavor from brunt tortilla, which was sealed and could not be unwrapped to add the salsa or green sauce.

They had unsweetened iced tea, but no sugar, only cheap sweetener. I asked for sugar, and the attendant said nothing but pointed to the sweetener.

Floors were both dirty and wet, and the tables were dirty. We had to clean our own table top before we could put food on it. With “sanitization” like this, I don’t think they would pass a health department inspection, and it made me seriously wonder about their kitchen. I would NEVER return to this place. Total...
