Taqueria El Coral (Capitol) — Restaurant in San Jose

This place came highly recommended to me. My first visit was OK and I did like their rice and beans.

The problem occurred on my second visit. I get a carnitas burrito with only rice, beans, and cheese. Because of the cheese...they charge me for Super, which is just fine.

So let's get this straight...I take off onion, cilantro, sour cream, and hot sauce from the Regular burrito and take off lettuce and guacamole from the Super. Lots of expensive ingredients they get to keep...fine....but when I ask for a normal amount of carnitas, beans, and cheese but a lot of rice...this crazy person asks me if I want to add extra rice. No I dont!! I want you to put extra rice on it and NOT charge me but still put a normal amount of the three other ingredients. Sounds SIMPLE to me....guess not.

How about you put FOUR CENTS worth of rice to meet a customers preferences...or put the onion, cilantro, sour cream, hot sauce, lettuce, and guacamole in a bowl for me to throw away!!! The huge amount of cheese you put on my burrito must have been $5.00! It feels like you want to waste things, I don't. It's doesn't make sense.

So what do I get...a tiny little burrito with a very small amount of rice, beans, and carnitas....and about a pound of cheese. Thanks for ruining my dinner. I'll never return and I'll happily share my ridiculous experience, to save others from wasting their time and money. Your counterproductive to the success of your own business....

They wanted to charge me for salsa!! Who eats Mexican food without salsas?!That's like going to Mc D. and getting charged for ketchup for your fries.

If they are that stingy with their salsas, doesn't it make u think what other things they do to save a few cents. They probably buy the cheapest meats and produce. They probably recycle their food for the next day instead of cooking a new batch every morning.

Also the review options are broken because there is no option for 0 starts as this place actually deserves it as it's nasty...not real Mexican food... since when do burritos come with lettuce inside?!! Oh I get it it's for volume...again to save a few cents they came up with that idea to bulk a burrito up with lettuce to use less meat.

If u don't believe me go in there yourself and you will be bombarded with signs with "extra .50 for this" "extra 1.00 for that" it feels like u don't want to breath in case u missed the ".50 extra for each breath while inside the building" sign. I hope they don't find a way to charge .50 for using the review option

Ok... been coming here since before I was born but came out cause I could smell the food from inside the womb... 🤣😂🤣😂 but seriously this place has been around since I was born... (im 30) we always come here for my fish and shrimp majado burrito... my grandma's sopes,,, and their famous taco salad... I love the carne Asada 😋 and the shrimp in particular.... they changed their hours due to low sales but don't miss out on their firerry death habanero sauce... and don't underestimate it.... you will regret it... it is so flavorful but its like getting bit by a shark... worth it. There isn't one dish I would say is better than the other... but you will find something you like i...
