Vahl's Restaurant & Cocktail — Restaurant in San Jose

I have heard about this restaurant since I was a teenager. Well I finally had the opportunity to try it. The menu was limited I think they had four choices so I ordered the chicken cordon bleu. When it was brought out I was surprised to see it had mushroom gravy on it. I've never heard of it with gravy on it. It was horrible. The gravy seemed from a can as did the mushrooms. It wasn't cooked thoroughly and it looked like the frozen version I had bought before. The reason I think it's frozen is because my bf ordered the same thing and it they were identical. If it were fresh they wouldn't be the same because it's hand made and nothing handmade has a twin. Well in top of that the price was $18.50. There was a party of 18, we came because it was a Saturday Night, and we thought we could enjoy the ambiance, (which is fun and funcky) expected entertainment, as it was advertised. They decided NOT TO HAVE ANY, as they also had anothrer huge party (that took over). Trouble could have been avoided if more staff had been there to help, AND if the doors to the big group had been closed. It was way too noisy to carry on any kind of conversation. Its a dieing restaurant. Vahl died a couple years back at about 99years old. The restaurant doesn't have tge draw it jad back in the day. The prives are rather high. I pain $19.00 for a 5 course meal of liver and onions. One of my favorites and it was delicious. They also have Prime Rib, Lobster, and various pasta and I believe chicken dishes.
