Hennessey's Tavern — Restaurant in San Juan Capistrano

Don't come here if you're in the military. I don't know why, but the bar tender here has a really weird attitude towards military in uniform. Granted, i can understand the general negative opinion people in Orange County have towards recruiters especially. I came into this location to ask them if I could put up a flyer for the Navy. Which, I fully expect to hear a no to. Some are cool about it. But this guy immediately took a tone with me. Instead of a simple no, he spoke to me like I was some delinquent. There was a really odd vibe not just from him but the waitress nearby, who i could overhear making a scoffing sound as i asked. He said "we actually do have an issue with you putting that up." From that moment on, his entire attitude seemed strangely confrontation. Like he hated me. It was the weirdest thing lol. I decided to order a sandwich, around lunch time, and I literally asked him if he was ok because he was getting so tense. Ive never experienced such a strangely negative tone in response to me at a restaurant before. Writing it out doesn't really do it justice, you just had to be there to know what I mean. It was so bizarre. But there was a clear resentment towards military in this establishment from the staff. I don't know if something happened before that I don't know about. But id strongly encourage avoiding this place if you are in the military. And definitely don't come here if you are in uniform. Not to mention that my sandwich was soggy. One half was decent, the other had a bottom slice that was literally mush. I don't know how someone can mess up making a sandwich, but anyways...take my word for it. There's something off...

I would had given this place 5stars but there was certain things I believe that needs to improve. I came here about a week ago on my birthday with my bf and kids. We were told we could sit anywhere we’d like so we sat where we could have some shade but table was not cleaned up plates and cups were still there, we figured someone would come to clear it and start taking our order or at least our drinks(20 mins later) my bf had to go ask the bartender at the bar if we had to put the order with him. There was this young lady(waitress) walking around but would not bother to help us and seemed to just avoid us. Anyways, the bartender was able to have someone come to our table and clean it, as well as to take our order. Tyler was our server that day, very friendly and answered some questions in food choices since it was our first time there. Let just say our food choices were flavorful, although our steak was a little undercooked it still had flavor and my drink too. I had an Irish coffee and finished with rose wine. The kids enjoyed their food as well. My bf had their Hennessey’s burger. Tyler was attentive throughout our lunch/dinner. We definitely enjoyed our dessert which was a chocolate fudge brownie topped with ice cream and whipped cream. Thank you Tyler for your service YOU get 5stars and when we go back will definitely...

Me and my 2 friends visited this place on 08/5/23. It took 30 minutes for a waiter to come and that is after i went looking for her. An hour after taking our orders the food had not arrived. I went to ask this waiter why our food was taking too long. We asked to talk to the Manager. He told us kitchen was too busy & that we will not pay for our meals. After the Manager left, it took 30 more minutes for our food to arrive. Our mushroom burgers were cold. Fries too cold & tasteless. After waiting for more than 2 hrs, i expected warm & flesh food. That was not the case. I ate mine because i was so hungry but right away my stomach started hurting. My friend just tasted hers & left it there. However one friend who had ordered shepherds pie got a hot & flesh one. Actually our burgers tasted, looked & felt like taken from the left overs in the trash can and i am regretting why i went to eat there. Definitely i will never return...
