I am writing this review for the owner and I hope they consider these constructive criticisms. I wish nothing but success for any small business and I support small businesses. However, many times small businesses try to cut corner to stay in business at a cost of losing customers. This was the case with Parmiss. My girlfriend and I were planning a family dinner and decided to reserve a table for 10 people. However, before our family dinner, we wanted to try the food and the service as this is a new restaurant. We went on Friday night. The restaurant has a very nice vibe and design and is in a good location. However as soon as we entered, we were approached by two servers trying to find us a sit. Very disorganized. As if they did not know their assignments. Finally, they found a sit outside in the patio. We sat down, and we did not see anyone come for any service for almost 15 min, at which point I went inside and found what I assume was the manager, I told her that we have been sitting for 15 mins and no one has come to service us. She said maybe they did not see us!! How can you loss focus of your customers. So she brought the menu and another server brought water and some sabzi with bread. Another 15 min passed when the server came to take our orders. We ordered a soltani and wanted to try the chicken kabob as well. But we did not want to order a full dish. We asked if we can just order a skewer of chicken kabob and he said no!! You have to order the dish. Most restaurants try to accommodate the need of the customers. Anyway, we ordered the chicken kabob dish and after another 15 min we got our food. All the while people who were there after us and knew the owner got their food before we did. There was no rhyme or rhythm on who sat were and who order what. Many tables that came after us got their food first. Once we got the food, it was awful. The meat was not cooked, the chicken was salty and the dough was sour, very sour. They brought the kabob without any onion and sumac. This is just traditional way of serving kabob. How do you know to bring onion and sumac for an Iranian customer. We had to ask them for the sumac and onion. Honestly the only delicious food was the spicy/sumac onion they brought. It was unique and tasty. Finally, we asked for our check and yet another server brought out check out. I total I would say 4 servers and the manager came to our table. Who do you tip in this situation? I do not like to waste food so I took the food home to recook it and eat it later. Lastly, the sumac was not in a shaker or prepackage. It was in a small ziplock bag. Very unsanitary and weird. I do not think it cost that much to buy prepackaged sumac. Rather than buying wholesome and packaging it into smaller bags. It did not look right.
In summary
They had enough server but they struggled to serve the tables as they did not know their assignments well.
At the very end that the manager came to give us the check, she did not ask if we liked the food or the service. I was prepared to give her a lecture, but she left quickly without asking anything.
I thought the prices for the food was a bit high for the quality. It was on the high end.
We canceled our family dinner at this location the next day.
I hope they consider these suggestions and stay in business, otherwise I do not think they...
Read moreI've never written a review in my life, but I felt compelled to write one after eating at this restaurant in the hopes that I could save even one other human being from making the tragic mistake of trying to eat a meal at this sad excuse for a dining establishment.
My wife and I are Persian and have eaten at all the best Persian restaurants in California. This one is 10 min from our new house so we decided to try it. We made the unfortunate decision to have 4 of our American friends accompany us to get a "true taste of Iran". This decision probably set US-Iran relations back to the 1979 hostage Crisis.
We got there on a Thursday night and the place was deserted. There was no formal wait staff and it looked like the 22 year old kid who was hosting was going to try his hand at waiting and bussing tables for the first time. Service at Iranian restaurants is usually slow and anemic, but this kid took it to a whole new level. 3 menus for 6 people and we had to beg and plead for him to take our drink order after 30 minutes. I was smart enough to order a ton of appetizers because when he finally got around to taking our food order, he informed us that the food would be ready in 40 minutes. WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE RESTAURANT! HOW CAN IT TAKE 40 MIN? I'm not going to even get into the food here because it's going to take way too much space and time. Let me put it this way: This is the worst Persian food I've had since my mom and wife went on a trip and left me alone for a week and I ran out of pizza and tried to make my own Persian food.
I slowly started to piece it all together like the cops finding out Kevin Spacey is Keyser Soze after he walks out of the police station. This place wasn't a restaurant. IT'S A NIGHTCLUB that has no interest in serving food to the idiots like me who think it's an actual restaurant. This place gets going after 8 pm when the DJ shows up and the drinks get flowing. Six Boomers showing up for a 6 pm dinner is an annoyance to them.
The final insult was when the bill showed up and they had charged us extra for every entree where we had asked for half salad/rice vs all rice and our Gen Z hostess/waiter had slid in a healthy automatic 20% tip for himself.
I don't know how this place is still in business except to assume this is the greatest nightclub since Studio 54 in New York. I regret that 1 star is the lowest rating and we can't use zero or negative integers. If Yelp programmers are reading this, please take this suggestion to the Executive Team.
The next day, my wife and I went to Mission Ranch to get a week's worth of real Persian food in order to restore my faith in the delicious food of my ancestors. I'm slowly healing.
If you've read this far, you won't believe the next sentence. I have decided I WILL be returning to Parmiss this Saturday night. But I will eat a full meal before I show up. I'm going to see what I expect to be the greatest nightclub party of all time. I have to see this for myself before I die. Stay tuned for my review of the...
