Pitipuá - Comida Criolla en Cupey — Restaurant in San Juan

Brought my son here before we went to the airport to get traditional PR food. I asked for "Mesa para dos por favor" and the waitress seated us at a small table against the wall before dropping the stand up sign with specials on it in front of us. I understand they were busy, but no drink request was made and she walked past us multiple times as I looked her way (not at the phone, etc.) Then four adults walked in and she seated them, then returned to talk about the menu. I caught her as she passed by afterward and she told me to wait, then she took a pad to the table of four and began taking their orders. I realize they would spend more than we do, but I'm very low maintenance and an easy 20% tip for any waitress that does her job: take my order, bring my food, bring the check at her convenience. Let me start by saying the service was absolutely excellent. The moment you step through the door, you are greeted and seated fast. The waiter explained the menu and the deals they had that day. The day I went, they had two mojitos for the price of one deal. You can tell they make their food with love and abundant flavor. We devoured the food, and it was served in reasonable portions. This restaurant deserves much more love considering how delicious everything was. I rate the service, the food, and the environment a 10/10. I recently tried Pitipua, and while it’s a bit on the pricey side, the experience was pretty good overall. One thing to note is that the chef’s recommendations board doesn’t show prices, so keep that in mind if you’re watching your budget.

I ordered the grilled chicken breast with mamposteao, and the chicken was fantastic—tender and seasoned just right. The mamposteao, though, could’ve used a little more color and flavor to really stand out. They also have cocktails, which were good, but again, a bit expensive.
