Salón Café - Av. Domenech — Restaurant in San Juan

I had breakfast here (scrambled eggs with cheese, veggies and ham, plus 1 toast and coffee. Tasted fine (nothing out of this world, but good.) Also, I dined here instead of take-out. However, upon informing the cashier that I would stay to dine, she immediately took away my menu and gave me another menu containing the same items but with increased prices! They actually charge more for the food items if you stay to eat. Not much point in tipping then! Tips are supposed to cover costs such as cleanup and utensils usage, plus service. What’s the basis for this? Curious minds need to know! All in all, I paid a total of $20 for the above items (looked like a 2-egg scramble, so it wasn’t a big plate either), including tip and tax, which I found expensive for a place that looks like a simple, VERY casual, cafeteria style place, with ordinary item menus and laughable interchangeable menus. Bueno, ese "review" fue en mi primera visita. Al parecer algo cambió y por eso voy a dejar esto por aquí temporalmente ya que es una observación luego de Fiona ( martes ) y voy a regresar luego a ver si mejora la situación...

La señora que atiende ahora no es muy cordial y como anfitriona se colgó. Atender al público es complicado y si de entrada te atienden como que molestas entonces desde el principio se falla y daña el ambiente que intentan desarrollar. Sonreir no cuesta y si es una sonrisa de servicio mejor aún. Toca ir más allá de saber usar la caja registradora digital, toca tener magia y la señora necesita mejorar en ese aspecto. No aprendimos nada en María, los vientos huracanados se llevaron la empatía. Tal vez no me dejen entrar luego de este "review"... ¿Quién sabe?... La vieja excusa de "Yo soy así" no funciona en servicio al cliente...

Ñapa: Luego de esperar pacientemente por mi par de cafés y par de avenas el dueño llegó con mucha prisa y me ajoró para recibir mi orden... Algo sucede y espero que logren superarlo. Tal vez es su primer huracán como negocio y por eso tienen los pelos de punta... Aunque la señora que me atendió bastante mal al ingresar atendió al señor que llegó luego a cuerpo de rey y hasta a la mesa le llevó su avenita... Infiero que ser guapo trae privilegios y como yo.soy más feo que Shrek... La tragicomedia es que ayer al ingresar me dijeron de inmediato que solo tenían café y cuando llegó otro cliente y solicitó un revoltillo se lo prepararon... Yo quedé "plop" y claro ahí me ofrecieron lo que ya me habían negado...

The place is right on the way and easy access. You do have to park about 3 minutes walking from the building since the parking by it is not open for public they have a spot a little farther on the right.

The customer service was ok, and they keep on clearing the table to keep it clean. It was nice but felt a bit rushed out the door. I understand the place is small and not many sitting tables.
