Tierra del Fuego Steakhouse — Restaurant in San Juan

I don't know how this restaurant received so many 5 star reviews. Allow me to provide an objective review and this is coming from a person whom is well versed in restaurateur culture. Mind you we arrived around 5PM 05/29/23

Upon entering the maitre'd seemed unattentive and preoccupied with whatever she was thinking about. She barely greeted us and walked us to our table as if we were dogs going to the vet rather than guests in someone else's home. Very unbecoming for a restaurant with so many great reviews.

Upon sitting our server seemed enthusiastic. However after ordering our food took about 20 minutes to arrive. The bread starters were probably the BEST fare during our entire experience. For starters we had the queso frito and chicarron de pollo. Both came cold as if it was sitting on the pick up line for too long. Mind you there were only about 2 servers working.

The entres were the NY strip steak (uncut) and tostones. The tostones had garlic that looked overcooked (it was minced) with oil already absorbed into the plantain meat. Once again, sat too long on the serving counter and was cold. The steak was made with the appropriate color and temperature as requested but just wasn't as juicy as I have tried at other restaurants.

My girlfriend ordered a Pina Colada and it was very watery. The after taste is supposed to leave your palate with a sweet taste of coconut. Instead it was a watery after taste. She might as well have ordered water flavored Pina.

Overall the whole experience was lackluster and devoid of "love." It felt like an experience at Applebee's or another chain restaurant. You come, you eat, you pay, you leave. I was unfortunately disappointed. I went with a small group for dad's steak night out. First, they have a VERY limited bar. At best, simple well drinks , beer, and wine. The server said they had a good margarita (since they couldnt make an old Fashion, or Mezcal, drinks, or anytging outside of simple well drinks.) The Margarita was terrible. The server was very friendly, but service was VERY slow. Appetizers were good. Had the charbroiled sausage, and mini mofongos. They were tasy! They tout Char grilled steaks, and they are priced like a high-end steakhouse. I expected similar quality. It wasn't. I had the 10oz filet for $60. My friends had every other cut that was available (Tbone, ribeye, churrasco, ribs). The consensus was "blah". I'd go so far as to say Sizzler...

OMGGGG GO HERE DONT EVEN HESITATE. If I could give 10/10 stars it would definitely be my rating. First we ran to this restaurant after shopping got here 937 they close @10 and they sat us down 😄 amazing we were happy. Our server greets us with the most perfect greeting and uplifting personality, AMAURI(our server) already grabbed out hearts and made a bouquet of roses out of it lol. We ordered the Tomahawk the cheesy potatoes and yuca. He also recommended a bottle of wine for us and we loved it. It was sweet.
