We stopped by Saigon House during a Monday lunch hour while in the area, looking to satisfy a craving for Vietnamese food. The place was surprisingly packed for a weekday, which seemed like a good sign. However, the seating situation was less than ideal. Tables were squeezed tightly together, and we found ourselves sitting side-by-side with strangers only inches away. If you’re looking for a quiet or spacious dining experience, this might not be the spot during peak hours. We ordered the Shrimp Spring Rolls, Chicken Pho Ga, and the Cube Beefsteak with Steamed Rice. The Spring Rolls were fresh, with crisp veggies and shrimp that tasted clean. The peanut sauce on the side was solid, though nothing particularly standout. The Chicken Pho Ga was a bit of a disappointment. The broth had a salty edge that overpowered the subtle herbal notes you'd expect in a comforting bowl of pho. It wasn’t inedible, but it didn’t quite hit the balance we were hoping for. On a more positive note, the Cube Beefsteak with Steamed Rice was the highlight of the meal. The beef was flavorful, tender, and well-seasoned, and paired nicely with the fluffy rice. We’d definitely consider returning just for that dish. Service was brisk and efficient despite the crowd, but not particularly warm. Overall, Saigon House has potential and clearly draws a strong lunch crowd, but the cramped atmosphere and inconsistent seasoning bring the experience down a notch. It’s worth a try if you’re nearby and craving Vietnamese, but it might not become a go-to...

I recently tried out Saigon House and really enjoyed my meal. The seating outside seemed nicely covered and cool, while the interior has a lot of personality from its classic all wood counter to the many plants hanging around the windows and sills.

The service was prompt and friendly. The owners seem to generally be taking orders or hanging around and are friendly, funny and talkative. I found that to make for a good dining experience personally as it added to the local, mom/ pop vibe present at this restaurant.

We ordered a spread of food- the pho is really good. The brother is on the lighter side and not overly savory/ aromatic with a slight sweetness, so if that fits your palette, I believe you would enjoy it. The herbs and added items were generous and I got a good amount of meat in the bowl too. The bun bo hue was equally delicious, with a good flavor though did not have the trotter or pork blood which I always love to see as an add-in. The Korean BBQ Garlic Noodles surprised me and so I had to give them a try- the meat was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the noodles were good, albeit slightly dried out over the course of our meal. The Vietnamese coffee here is really great, and the banh mi was also delicious and had a nice sweetness to them.

Overall, I loved eating here from the atmosphere and service to the pretty solid meal too. If you are thinking of trying out this place, I would...

Was craving pho in San Leandro and decided on this restaurant. It's located in a large lot with plenty of parking. The restaurant was unassuming and had a few tables outside. Inside is relatively small with one man running orders. We were seated immediately and ordered quickly. We noticed the cheap prices and the menu pictures were promising. As we waited for our food, we noticed a lot of to-go orders.

We ordered the nem nuong spring rolls (4NN), pho tai, and bun rieu. The food came out together very shortly after. The nem nuong spring rolls were amazing! The amount of meat was generous in the 2 rolls. I highly recommend trying these. I should have asked for fish sauce, but these rolls come with a thick peanut sauce. I really enjoyed the bun rieu. The shrimps were big and fresh. There was a generous portion of noodles and crab meat. The pho was also tasty and had a generous portion of meat.

I love supporting local businesses and so happy to have found this place. Even though their prices are cheap, they definitely do not skimp on the quality. The bun rieu was full of flavor and had generous portions. The man running the restaurant was also really nice and attentive. I hope to...

This place has a special place in my heart. I stumbled on this place while having to take a detour due to the freeway closure when I used to drive Long Haul from LA to Oakland Daily. I made a mental note and came back a month later after I remembered where it was. Man, oh man, the gem this place is. I originally wanted their Pho, and it's very good Pho. But let me tell ya, their Bun Bo Hue was by far my favorite thing to have there. The depth of flavor of the beef and lemon grass in that broth had me.. and the chili sauce the owners wife makes is next level when you add it to this soup. I always ask for extra broth because why not. I know this is wrong, but I like Subbing out the Bun Bo noodle for the Pho noodle. Just clings on to the broth much better, so each bite and slurp are that much tastier.
