Chicken Express — Restaurant in San Marcos

Placed a DoorDash order on 8/25/25 at 6:50 pm for a 3 PC Dinner with fries and cole slaw also ordered 4 Apple Pies. Dasher called me after arriving at the store to inform me that they were out of Cole Slaw I agreed on okra. When Dasher delivered my order I went inside and checked my order. Chicken, okra, fries were over cooked. The pies were incorrect they were all cherry instead of apple. I contacted DoorDash and they gave me credit for the wrong items. I tried calling the store to inform them that I was not happy with the complete order. They did not answer their phone and they do not have a voicemail to leave a message. I used to like Chicken Express but the last few times I have ordered it has not been the same as it was before. I guess I will be giving the other Chicken place down the street...

I don't ever write reviews but I think this is important. All of the employees here were NOT wearing a mask. Masks are still state mandated until March 10 for the state of Texas. When I asked the cashier about the masks she shrugged. I just got done dropping off my grandma at her house with my grandpas ashes because he died due to covid. It makes me now think that fast food places are the reason he came in contact with the virus. He didn't go anywhere but to get food. I think it's disgusting how the employee just shrugged and didn't care. All of the costumers can see the employees make the food WITHOUT the mask. The employee said my manger is right here you can talk to her. I didn't even bother because I can clearly tell the manager does not care about...

Matt Makes Amazing Chicken. I rarely review fast food places because I'm mostly about promoting local places and Chicken Express is usually only okay chicken (read "the gravy saves the bland, dry strips I usually get). BUT- I swear I had the best fried chicken of my life today. It was so good, I called to find out who was cooking. If the owner/manager sees this, you need to give Matt all your money and all the raises. He does a phenomenal job that makes me want to forget about "heart healthy" and just eat y'alls chicken.
