This place is really strange as nobody who works here actually understands physics or their own menu. Also their drinks are severely overpriced. $5.50+ for sugar water is a little overrated when they can't even make it to the menu specs.

I ordered their liquid gold. See photo, it says honey oolong topped with cream. I want to point to this fact because cream is actually lighter than water. Cream is made up of mixed in air making it float typically.

More over, sugar water, of almost any level, is heavier than water because the sugar condensed the spaces between the water molecules when mixed it (but not dissolved).

Still following? Essentially if they are able to use tea, sugar and cream as separate ingredients, in order to adjust the sugar level in tea (they offer 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%), they would be mixing the sugar in (and not dissolving it since the tea is cold) which means it would follow the above logic per physics.

So I get my drink and the first time they said they shook it which (please see product pic) looked nothing like the product they are selling. I explained this and the staff argued with me about the amount of milk that they put in there being the same. Excuse me? It doesn't say honey oolong with milk, it says honey oolong topped with cream.

Second, after an agonizing 10 minutes explaining to the staff that their menu literally says cream topped, they remade the drink, and the "milk" is on the bottom and they told me that lighter sugar means the cream sinks.

That's not how physics works. I took my drink anyway because I already paid obscenely for it. See photo below.

If I were you, I'd go to the plethora of other fine boba establishments in San Mateo because they don't actually make the products they sell and when you ask about it they'll argue with you and try to...

Went to buy drinks on 1/25/23. This Teaspoon is usually my go-to! However, the male worker that afternoon treated us like trash and was blatantly rude to a grandmother in the shop. The gals working with him were visibly shocked by his behavior as well. They looked confused as to why he was acting the way he was to us. He made an actual show of preparing our house regular milk teas with as much spite and sloth as possible, all because he misunderstood the number of teas we originally ordered and made it clear that he didn't want to make the rest. Truly not exaggerating, check the cameras. I've worked in food service and know its trials, so am usually very understanding. But treating us like that for no reason?...

There milk tea and boba is usually pretty standard but the shaved ice (afternoon tea) did not live up to my expectations. The milk tea shaved ice was pretty good the first few bites and then the flavor gets pretty boring(might be the condensed milk enhancing the top flavor). The honey boba was not good. Way too mushy that it ruined the overall flavor. This was $7 which is not terrible but I would not recommend if you like good boba. The egg pudding was acceptable but not amazing. The shaved ice can also be more fluffy/airy to enhance it. Try another shaved ice if you go. Service was not amazing either since they let a pretty long line build up behind me while I was waiting to order since they were a little behind...

This is an ok spot to grab a quick boba. The drinks are a lot sweeter than what I normally would expect from other boba places so you might want to ask them to reduce the sugar. The biggest draw back was the straw. It is not plastic and I understand why they would want to help the environment by finding an alternative. What they are currently using is not the answer though. Both my wife and I went through more than one straw while finishing our drinks and if you aren’t really careful they will crack. If you are going to use a plastic cup with a plastic lid you might as well use a plastic straw. Also they no longer serve shaved ice at this location.
