I went to Poplar Creek Grill with my spouse to attend a celebration of life. I waited about three weeks to write this review so that I could reflect upon my experience at Poplar Creek Grill. My review is not oriented toward their normal restaurant because I have no experience with that. I think approximately 105 people attended. The room was a little small but in my opinion this actually turned out to be an asset rather than a liability. A portable bar was set up on the outside patio and a double couch sitting area with a coffee table was set up next to the bar. Also two fairly large circular tables with umbrellas we're also set up outside. It was a nice day and we sat outside at one of the tables. This helped us feel more covid-safe. The tables were nicely decorated with two overlapping colorful napkins and center-pieces. There was a nice area to circulate in front of dessert and drink tables at one end of the room. Lunch was served buffet-style and it was well-prepared and tasty. During the presentations the "outside people" stood in the circulation area. The sound system worked very effectively so that everyone could hear each person who spoke. Both the outdoor and indoor settings were very appealing. Plates, utensils, and glassware were removed promptly from the tables which was a nice touch.

Came here for lunch and wasn’t very impressed. Has a tasty mimosa to start off my mean. The clam chowder was decent. Now the highlight of the meal was the French onion soup. Definitely the best offering I ordered. The salmon cakes felt way to breaded. Almost like they were trying to skimp on the meat. Honestly I rather have a smaller cake to get rid of all the excess breading. Completely takes away from getting to taste the salmon. I would totally give them a 5 star if I was only rating the aioli. The chicken ceaser salad was good. Chicken was well seasoned and came with a very generous amount of avocado. Although from the pic u can notice there isn’t as much “salad” I bit more greens would have been nice. Now all this would be deserving of a slightly higher ranking until you factor in the price. It’s just a bit to much to pay for slightly above average food. Their saving grace is that there isn’t anywhere else near by to eat. Food aside I loved the service. The staff was very warm and welcoming. 5 star service for sure

The view is inspiring as much as the food is mediocre. My friends had a variety of dishes and I had salmon as a main. The fish didn’t taste good: it had a bitter taste, and I feel that it’s pretty hard to mess up salmon, and my friend’s pot pie was not tasty either. The service is good sometimes. Once we had to wait a while to get out food and were starving. It’s a good spot if you are looking for a quiet place and you really don’t care about food. I hope not to return again and, if I do, I will definitely eat in advance.

I'm not a golfer, and it's rare that you would find me at a golf course, until now.

Last Friday my family gathered here for a celebration of life lunch. Why did we choose Par3? It's because we heard that it is a new restaurant by Alicia the owner and Chef of Three Craft Kitchen in Downtown San Mateo.

Let's start with something rare for the San Mateo, Burlingame area, lots of free parking!! You can't beat not having to pay for meters, or searching for parking spaces.

Once we walked into the restaurant, it had a new fresh modern feel. Wood floors, new tables, new chairs, big screen tv's, long and inviting bar, so much to mention, and to top it all off, large windows all across the restaurant that provided beautiful views of the golf course from almost every table.

We were greeted immediately by the staff that asked if we wanted to enjoy our lunch inside, or outside in the patio area. Being a pet friendly automatically gets a star, we chose to sit inside.

Our group started off with drinks, which they have a ton of beers on tap, both local craft and the other favorite large company brands. They also have a full bar with a large cocktail menu, with Mojitos and other signature cocktails. Me personally, I ordered beer =)

We then went into appetizers, our group ordered the Bacon Bites, Pulled Pork Nachos, Pizza, and Chicken Wings. Everything was delicious and the portions were pretty big!

For lunch, I had a Cheeseburger. The burger was cooked perfect to my liking, but the highlight was the type of bread they used. It was a soft brioche type sourdough? I dunno, but it was awesome! Along with my burger I chose french fries which were perfectly cooked, and perfectly seasoned. What is perfect fries? Perfect temperature, and perfect crispyness. Crispyness isn't word, but you get the picture =)

The rest of our table ordered the Adobo Pulled Pork Tacos, the Tuna Melt, the Tri-Tip Dip, and the Salmon Burger.

We were so stuffed, and comfortable, we didn't want to leave. After lunch we shared an ice cream dessert and ordered an Irish Coffee, Mexican Coffee, and Keoke Coffee.

Irish Coffee had Jameson Whiskey, the Mexican Coffee and Tequila, and the Keoke I think had Brandy? All 3 of them were excellent and is a MUST for anyone who love coffee liqueurs!

A few more things that I want to add about Par3 is they have a large Banquet Room for meetings, events, parties, and weddings.

I also noticed they have games on the patio lawn, corn hole, and another game that looks like a lawn version of beer pong. They also have a fireplace out there too. The next time I visit, I definitely plan to drink a few beers outside and play the lawn games!

Service was top notch, and one more last thing that is the kicker, the prices were super, and I mean SUPER affordable for where you're at. You would expect to pay double, being on a golf course, and in such a nice modern classy restaurant. BIG THANK YOU to the owners!!!

Bottomline, glad we chose Par3, our family loved it, and we look forward to our next visit. I might even start to play golf, well probably just the driving range and...

TENTATIVE REVIEW - EMAILED OWNER. This was my first time speaking to Jenifer in person, and right from the start, she was rude, dismissive, and seemed upset for no apparent reason. She spoke to me in a way that was not only unprofessional but also made me feel like I had done something wrong, despite us never having met before. Her attitude was completely uncalled for, and it left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.

When I calmly told Jenifer that I didn’t appreciate the way she was speaking to me, her response was a dismissive “I’m sorry you feel that way,” which felt like a shallow apology. I had to correct her and explain that it wasn’t just me who felt this way—Torres, who was also taken aback by her behavior, had actually apologized to me on her behalf. Instead of addressing her actions, Jenifer turned on Torres and asked him, in a very condescending tone, if he "wanted to help us," fully knowing that event planning isn’t his role. Her reaction was completely out of line.

I’ve attended many events at Par 3, and I’ve always had great experiences, but I’ve never encountered anything like this. Jenifer’s behavior was unprofessional, & extremely...
