After a short class, I was feeling hungry and saw this place that had great reviews on Google. Excitedly, my partner and I went to this store where the worker suggested the Mojo sandwich and the chicken ravioli with vodka sauce. After a short wait they brought out our food and it was pretty good. The sandwich had too much pulled pork(surprising problem), because it was the only thing you’d end up tasting. The ravioli, which should have been amazing, wasn't that great. The flavor was fine and it was cooked to an al dente texture, but the inside filling was just so crumbly. The texture was kinda unpleasant in this regard, but at least the flavor was good and the garlic bread was a 10/10. Overall I would have to dock them some points for the ravioli(their literal namesake), but it wasn’t that bad and the...
Read moreLove the food. Tasty and non-generic Italian style sub sandwiches with lots of different meat and bread options. The ravioli for which the restaurant is named is really tasty because it is made in-house. I order the traditional with pesto and it ALWAYS hits the spot! Service is a little rushed during the lunch rush because they get very busy, but not so much that I would not come back. The food is just fantastic if you like subs and homemade ravioli. Parking is San Mateo downtown parking so may be subject to what time of day you go. Prices are reasonable, not a bargain but not overpriced either. For the price, the portions are great and very satisfying. My friend and I each got an 8inch sub and split a ravioli plate and were very (happily) full. This is a go to spot for me and I will definitely...
Read moreYUM. Really awesome, humongous sandwiches. Order ahead if you don't want to wait.
I definitely recommend the mojo sandwich. Smoked, pulled pork accompanied by bigger, super tended chunks of ham, with melty Swiss cheese, tomato, pickle, red onion, and a spicy Cuban mojo sauce, all served on a perfectly toasted roll. When I first picked up the sandwich the cheese wasn't quite melted, but as the sandwich sat there and steamed up, that cheese melted to perfection. The bread was crunchy on the outside and got that slight sogginess inside that made it soft and chewy, but held its integrity against the ingredients.
This sandwich was easily two meals for me, probably could have been three had I asked them to cut thirds instead of half. I want to come back and try the Italian sub, which sounds...
