TLDR; after 6 weeks of order placed and 4 week delays, hours of phone calls and emails sent to both corporate and san mateo store, they failed to deliver my dresser and I cancelled my order.
Forget about it. If you value your time and energy, Iād avoid Scandinavian designs at all cost. Please check recent reviews of the store, I know Iām not the only one dealing with issues.
Iāve was dealing with 4 week delays with Scandinavian designs and ultimately cancelled the order. I ordered a $2K dresser from them (vs custom made at different stores) because they promised delivery within two weeks. We just moved in to a new house so we prioritized early delivery as we had all our clothes in suitcases. Instead of ordering online, I figured it might be better if I order through the store directly so I called their sales associate Meiling whom I met when checking the dresser before and placed an order through her. The order process was not at all smooth (I should have known at this point) as it required back and forth on quotes, links she sent me (delayed by a day and she blamed the online team) where I have to make payments for.
First delay: The day before the delivery, I get a phone call from store that the warehouse did not have my dresser so they need to push my delivery date to next week. Annoyed but it happens, so I schedule delivery for next week
Second delay: Next week, I get a phone call that there are no delivery scheduled for my order and they do not have answers to why. The store manager Lorenzo said they should have never promised early delivery date because it normally takes 3-4 weeks minimum. I asked, can you please make sure we get our dresser next week, in which he replied: ācanāt promise for sure but confident.ā
Third delay: we actually got a delivery notice the day before. When the delivery arrived, I noticed the product was damaged. Iām pretty frustrated at this point but refused the delivery due to the damage. Note, the store doesnāt open until 11am so Iām dealing with online customer team because delivery happened at 9am. While they are very nice and responsive, I learned that they ultimately work with local showrooms so whatever the issue is, I had to go through SM brick and mortar store anyways. The corporate customer support team and the store has 0 communication channels so everytime Iām calling either of them, I need to explain the whole situation from the start. I give them a call at 11am. General manager Lorenzo is out on vacation. Another sales associate says he will reach out to another manager in store. I donāt hear back for hours. Gave a call back and the manager in store says she never got a note to give me a call back (sigh). I explain the whole situation again and she places an delivery order for next week
Fourth delay: I get a phone call from the third party delivery service. He tells me that the warehouse doesnāt even have my dresser so heās not sure why the store told me my dresser is getting delivered. I texted Meiling asking what happened and she says sheās not sure why the delivery guy called me before calling her (but why does that make a difference? Ultimately they canāt fulfill my order AGAIN!) Another call from Lorenzo. Surprise - They cannot fulfill delivery. They offer 4% off my order as a compensation and my time, what a joke. At this point, I would have gotten custom orders delivered from other stores. There has already been so much delay that purchasing anything else would take longer.
I wait for couple more days until I decided that I am done dealing with their incompetence and lies - called to cancel the order. I almost ordered some custom couches from them too so lesson learned and maybe I dodged a bullet.

From the start, Maryann was friendly, helpful, and welcoming to the store and she answered all of our questions! We decided to purchase a mattress and a few items with a delivery date scheduled for 2 weeks later. After a week we decided we wanted to get a bed frame as well, so I called Maryann and asked if it'd be possible to put our delivery on hold to give us some time to go into the store and look for a bed frame. Maryann was very accommodating, made sure to personally see to it that our delivery was paused and made sure to make herself available when we went back to the store to look for a bed frame. We eventually did find a bed frame and Maryann helped us through the process of rescheduling our delivery for two weeks out. Maryann went above and beyond to make sure that we received every discount/benefit we were eligible for, and personally seeing to it that our delivery date was in the system and went smoothly. Waiman greeted us as we entered yet I appreciated that he didnāt hover. He would appear magically when we had questions, moved furniture around to help us visualize, recalled pieces from other rooms he thought would work for us after truly listening to our focus, and even hauled items from other showroom spaces for us! After narrowing down our choices we were still considering options and communicated with Waiman numerous times by text. And twice after our initial order we wanted a couple of additional pieces and were able to complete the transaction directly with Waiman without even going into the store! I could go on and on! The delivery crew arrived the first minute of their service window, were very professional and careful in setting up our furniture and took away the packaging materials!
