So excited for this new place in Marin! First of all, finally a Dosa place in Marin!!
Second, fantastic actually delicious vegan options, in addition to what’s marked on the menu, they make curries vegan too, and add some coconut milk to it too so it’s nice and rich, but without too much coconut taste. They have a ton of options for appetizers, including hire protein ones, with great vegan chutneys. Can’t wait to try more.
Third — really cool fusion options! I’ve only tried Dosa tacos (not tocos;) typo on the menu) so good! Appreciate the creativity, and it was really delicious. Very flavorful dosa too. The space itself seems pretty traditional, but the menu is fun and playful, and on par with hip places in SF, IMO.
Fourth— genuinely delicious balanced food. Like I mentioned, vegan options are nice and rich, with good balance of fats, creaminess, sourness - all ingredients that make food taste great but often are missing when it’s just removing dairy / meat ingredients vs designing a dish around being plant based. My husband who is vegetarian and spent a long time in India enjoyed his dairy containing food very much too.
And finally fifth — we went there with a hangry toddler, stuff was super sweet with her, and accommodating, including helping me pick up things as I was dropping everything while trying to wrangle the child around. Not only that, but she loved the food and had a great time, quickly warming up and enjoying saying hello to everyone.
All in all I hope this place gains popularity it deserves! Highly recommend trying it, at least based on my first experience it’ll become my go to Indian...

Read moreTaj of Marin is under new ownership. The new restaurant is called Suvai. It’s amazing. We’ve been coming to Taj and even the previous restaurant Bombay in the same location for many many years. The food at Suvai is incredible and the decor after a month of renovations are awesome.
The management and staff are all incredibly welcoming and warm and they have beautiful Indian music playing throughout the lunch.
They do lunch buffet seven days a week and dine in option only for dinner.

There are tons of choices and the Biryanis ( veg, chicken) and goat curry were all spectacular.
There are too many other dishes to mention, but their choices and the caliber of their food are as good as you’ll find in Marin county.
We will be back again and again and again. If you are looking for a great Indian restaurant, get yourself to Suvai. You’ll...
