I made a reservation since it was recommended by Google, and it was lunchtime. It wasn't busy so it wasn't needed. We walked in and stood there for several minutes, waiting for someone to acknowledge and seat us. Eventually, an older woman with curly hair and glasses approached us, and the first thing she said was, "If you want quick service, I recommend you go somewhere else because it's just me and another girl." (That wasn't even a true statement as there was clearly another person taking orders and he took ours.) Her comment was very offputting, and we would have gone elsewhere if it wasn't for the fact that we were in the middle of a road trip and didn't want to take more time finding another place. It wasn't busy, so we took a chance and sat down. Within minutes, we were able to order our drinks and an appetizer. Our meals arrived timely as well, so I'm not sure why that woman seemed so frazzled and wanted to deter business. That deserves a 1 star However, the young man who took our order was amazing. He was personable and funny. He deserves 5 stars and is the type of person who makes customers want to return! (My apologies as I didn't catch anyone's name.) Now, as far as the food, it was pretty good. The pretzel was great. The Mac & Cheese was good. The chicken club sandwich was pretty bland. The fries were good. Overall, we would likely try it again when in the area.

We've been wanting to check out the Angry Goat for awhile now. Our server, Allie, was wonderful, offering suggestions and was very friendly. The AC wasn't working at the restaurant when we were there, so we opted to eat outside on a very warm night. Outside seating is quite nice and there was a bit of a breeze. Hubby had a cheeseburger and I had a Pittsburgh salad, with homemade grilled onion balsamic dressing. I'm not a fan of cheese curds but Allie told us the fried cheese curds were delicious and she was absolutely correct! Hubby said his burger was good but not amazing. Fries were tasty and portion sizes were generous. Most likely will eat there again when in the area.

I was fortunate enough to spend an early evening dinner with one of the owners of the angry goat. That would be Dr. Jon Cannella and his beautiful wife Erica. The atmosphere was better than any restaurant in Pittsburgh with the outdoor seating and all of the activities for both adults and children such as TicTacToe and outdoor Jenga and ax throwing! The menu was excellent simplicity and the food was so tasty it was absolutely five stars in my book! I am going to take my entire family back to enjoy this wonderful restaurant and enjoy the beautiful town of Dubois Pennsylvania!

Made a reservation for 5 PM for my friends birthday. We were seated at a high-top table. The seats were the most uncomfortable high-top seats I've ever sat in. I asked to be moved but was told they had other reservations. These seats absolutely need to be changed! They literally make you feel like you are falling forward the entire time and you have to lean on the table and hook your legs just to stay in your seat.

We ordered drinks and an appetizer that took far too long to get to our table. The ladies ordered mimosa flights, and the guys had beer and bourbon. The mimosa flights actually got to our tables before the beer and bourbon, which I find to be ridiculous. The bar staff and wait staff were not hustling at all, which made us more unsatisfied with the wait and poor service. Our waitress did not address the issue during our whole time dining. We also were seated near the outdoor area and had to ask to have the heaters turned on (I find it weird that these are not automatically turned on this time of the year) which also took me asking two different staff members to finally get it turned on. Our appetizer was delicious but took far too long to get to our table (30 minutes or more). I ordered a salad with my entree, which I never received.

All of our entrees finally showed up at 6:15 PM, which was an hour and fifteen minutes from when we arrived. The food was good, however orders were wrong (I ordered chicken to be on my pasta and it was not on my entree). At this point I had enough and complained to the manager. She adjusted our checks and made it right, which I greatly appreciate. However, I was highly disappointed in the service and hope that it gets corrected in the future. The high-top seats have to be changed, as their is no one that could possibly be comfortable in them.

Also, the management of the kitchen, bar and wait staff needs to be addressed. The restaurant and bar were not busy and their were tons of unhappy, hungry and thirsty customers. The fact that no staff were hustling trying to sling drinks and food was very disappointing considering The Angry Goat is supposed to be a higher class establishment. I walked by the kitchen staff on my way to the restroom and they were taking their sweet time making food back there. I will be willing to give it another shot in the future since the manager adjusted our checks and the food was good (I have eaten here many times since the place opened and this is my first horrible experience). But, I hope that adjustments will be made for the future or I don't see this place...

Let's start by saying this place is very modern and inviting. There was absolutely no wait, you will find out why shortly. We were greeted and seated by a very nice young lady. That's the good part. We were offered to sit on the patio, it was closed in and extremely warm for a 76 degree day which we were not told. Our waitress was very friendly and was training a very friendly girl. They brought us waters right away and we placed our drink and appetizer order. The drinks arrived within a few minutes and were very good. Our waitress returned without her trainee and ready to take our order, but wait, she forgot her book to take our order and said she would be right back. A few minutes later she returned with the trainee and her trustee book. We placed our order and began the wait. Our food arrived shortly there after. Thank God because it was a sauna it that place and the cheap stuff metal chairs were very uncomfortable. Oh but wait, we never got the appetizer we ordered. The waitress blamed it on the kitchen staff. We told them to keep the appetizer because our food had arrived. I had a bacon jam burger, the flavor was great, but the burger was premaid out of a box for $18 and not fresh prepared. BUMMER! I also asked for no lettuce but got it any how. My fiance had a steak ordered medium well, but cooked well done. It was supposed to have a roasted garlic peppercorn crust, but arrived without. The steak was brought out with out a knife, which we asked the waitress for and she never came back with. She continued to serve drinks and take orders to other patrons. The hostess came to the table behind us and we asked if she would be able to get us a knife which she did and apologized that it should have came out with the meal. My daughter had the pasta meal and it was supposed to come with a side salad which the waitress never even asked her how she wanted it, because she was not going to bring it out any how. Now for the grand finale, she brought us our check and gave her my card. She never left a pen to sign the bill with and leave a tip, which I did leave a tip. Not as big as I normally would, but I left one because waiting on tables pays crap and people depend on tips. This waitress should not be training till she can perform the task herself. This visit was a very upsetting first and last time. We drove 45 minutes to get there and left disappointed. The management of this establishment should be ashamed to say they own and operate...

An Unexpected Delight!

We were at a neighboring restaurant last week and saw that the Angry Goat was packed next door. We found out that it had just opened a few months back, and we were unaware of its opening. This weekend (Late September) we found out that they were running Wiener Schnitzel and Spatzel as specials for dinner. We both love German food and decided to head over to try some local “Oktoberfest” cuisine. Both the Wiener Schnitzel and Spatzel were delicious! What a treat!

While we were there, we also looked over the menu to see what else they offered. My wife and I made a pact to return soon, as most everything on the menu looked delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and attentive. The decor was unique and upscale. We did not get to experience the Garden side of the restaurant, but intend to do so on our next visit.

And having just moved to DuBois from Maryland 2 months ago, we have been reluctant to order crab cakes here in town that pretend to be “Maryland” crab cakes. I am delighted to say that the Angry Goat crab cakes are made with Maryland Blue Crab! Not the imported crab from Indonesia. They were very good! Very little filler, and served with Old Bay seasoning, just like we have been accustomed to for 40+ years. These are authentic. Worth a try if you are longing for the real thing.

We both highly recommend that you give the Angry Goat a try. Oh, I almost forgot: part of the restaurant in the bar area has been set up for entertainment: There is an axe-throwing area and a Golf simulator for things to do if you want something more than just dinner and drinks. An excellent inclement weather destination. We will definitely be going back and now also have a new destination for something different to do and for watching Football in the company of friends and...
