my partner and i are yet to reverse the aging process. and yet the inner child, ever the facilitator of wonder and self-expansion, continues to breathe under the weight of experience. and what better to ignite the dry woods of life? how about a delight! as luck would have it, koya kitchen is serving only delights. seating in an refurbished school bus? yes, we check that box. an a-frame dogtrot lounge? i'll be checking that box too. having said that, dogtrots remind me that keeping your home open for others is important. being a conduit of life, a throughway. homes are most often designed to impede the way of nature, to stand in front of it. but not to be seen into, and especially not to be seen through. i see through to my inner one, the naive and impressionable thing that guides me, and i see through it back to my current self, the one romancing the taste of adult cocktails enjoyed in the cool airs of mt. hood. therapy is not something that is exclusive to words, it is important to revisit this. a plate of food, an inviting spot amongst trees, a dogtrot or a school bus. all of these are therapy in this life, so take the road more traveled once in a while, you'll still find something worth...
Read moreMy honest review after having been here twice about 6 months apart. The first time I don't remember all the details but the food took a while and was "ok". The second and more recent time I remember the details. We ordered the Ramen and Vegetable tempura.
It took about 45 mins from the time of ordering - there wasn't a big crowd or anything, but they were nice and apologetic about the wait and even brought our food out to us.
The Ramen was ok, though overall the serving size was definitely small compared to the other Ramen places we go to and particularly the pork portion, which was literally two thin slices of shoulder - barely anything.
The tempura was tasty, but disappointing in that it was just zucchini and squash. Kinda hard to get excited over.
All that being said, everyone was very nice and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Thats appreciated and not taken for granted.
Overall I'd say that if the prices were reduced a bit to account for the smaller portion sizes and the wait time was improved then this would be an easy recommendation. Otherwise its more of a...
Read moreThis place was not what I had expected it to be. Me and my girlfriend did there valentines reservation, and everything just seemed off to me. There are 5 dishes that they served, that was underwhelming for me each of them very small in size and left hungry this whole thing was $100. And i am still hungry after the last dish which we did not even know was the last dish we sat for 13 min waiting then left because. There must have been nothing else coming. During the prep of these dishes. I would have thought that with this "spacial" dinner they would have said this is our last course hope you guys have a great evening. Also was pretty disappointing that eventhing was served with paper plates and plastic silverware.took 2 hours we had a dish every 20min or so. The waitress i thought at the begining would have said "so tonight this is what we are cooking for you guys but each dish brought was just hi bye. Each meal was a mystery and I was left with some disappointing feeling for this day. And its very cold in the restaurant part even with the pellet stove on. So bring a...
