Japanese Express — Restaurant in Sanford

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS LOCATION! The other location by the UPS store is MUCH better. I asked for extra carrots and was charged for them. I had 2 orders of hibachi steak, 1 with extra carrots. They both had the same amount of carrots. Took a picture for proof as this is not the first time this location has done this. I waited until after their dinner rush and called and asked to be able to return and get the carrots I paid for. The girl argued with me about what extra carrots looked like. Then told me I needed a receipt which they didn't give me. She argued that too. I asked again to simply get what I paid for. She went and spoke to a manager she told me and said that was fine I could come and get them. Then I told her it wouldn't be tonight. Then she went back to saying I need a receipt. I asked to speak to the manager. She LAUGHED at me and said he was in the office. I said ok thank you I'd like to speak to him. She laughed again and said she didn't think he would come to the phone. I asked for his name-Raphael-and asked her to tell him there was a customer who would like to speak to him. She laughed again and hung up. This location is trash. I've been coming here on and off since they opened. (Moreso pre-Covid, but that was a lifestyle change) The food is wonderful, especially the carrots. You get a lot of food; about 60% is rice. My issues is that the current pictures of the menu showed lunch special at $5.84. The menu information (that says updated 1 day ago as of this writing) says $6.99. Their actual website menu says $10.38. There are no prices posted for lunch specials in the actual restaurant. The woman ringing up said "Around $10.50". This is b.s. to me. I think they are doing this so they can just charge whatever they want for the lunch special at any given time. I'm always satisfied with the food and service at Sarkus.

I get the daily special and order it without rice to keep the carb count under control. It comes with tea and I choose the unsweetened, which I do like. The food comes out quickly and is always hot and fresh.

I enjoy the Monday through Thursday specials. They alternate between chicken/beef and hibachi/teriyaki, but the Friday shrimp special isn't my favorite.

The atmosphere is strange. Very bright orange paint on all the walls and black trim. None of the art on the walls match anything, including the other art.
