This is a real gem. I have no idea that the previous kabab place got replaced with this eatery. I went to this place after finding very high ratings and good reviews for this hot new choice. And so glad I am that I made that decision. For quite a while now I was looking for a Mediterranean place for a quick grab which has great food and not overtly expensive. And Achilles is the place.
I and my wife went for the first time on a weekday night around 8 pm. Since it was our first time, the guy at the counter was patient enough to explain us how to go about choosing items and also some suggestions. I chose a chicken shawarma plate and my wife selected an Achilles chicken plate. The base options are rice, salad or half and half of each. Then there are choices of hummus, baba ghanoush and sour cream. There are multiple veggie choices and a bunch of sauces to experiment with. I am pretty sure none of them will turn out bad in any way. The end result is superb and we both liked our plates greatly.
We also tried a side of falafels and that was an order of 4 pieces. They were fried in front of us and given to us within 5 minutes. They taste delicious and fresh - one of the best that I have tasted.
I am definitely coming back for more and I highly recommend to try...
Read moreWowww! Amazing food. I love good fresh food. You can always taste when the quality is good. The owner is very nice and friendly. I appreciate the conversation and welcoming me while in line. Omg the heart shaped falafel arent only cute but they are seasoned well and they taste very herbaceous. I got the combo plate with Achilles chicken (chunky in a sauce) + the shaved chicken. Okay the meat tastes specious!
You get to choose a protein + a base of salad or rice then some dips like hummus, achilles sauce, and babbaganoush. Then some veggie toppings + more sauces. I would say their Tahini sauce is bommmb, the achilles sauce tastes delicious, and be careful with the spicy sauce. I got a side of it. I also got it topped with some many sauce. I love this place. I like how you can see all the ingredients, so many toppings are complimentary, and they have the explanations and definitions of what’s in the sauces or dips you’re getting. I’m not a fan of the bobbaganoush but other than that 5 stars baby! I will return. They only have outside seating. Depending on what time you go, bring a coat. The parking lot is small but if you go later we parked in the lot for the dentist...
Read moreAfter seeing so much hype about this place, I had to try it out! The heart-shaped falafels are super cute and they fry them fresh when you order! The texture is honestly just okay though. Each falafel is dense, and not very crispy or fluffy. The flavor is overall nutty and delicious with rice. Next time I'll try it in the wrap!
Everything is complimentary with your dish, but I do notice that they tend to be a bit inconsistent with their portions. For example, my rice plate had much more hummus than my boyfriend's rice plate.
My favorite was the Achilles Spread! I can see why it's their house specialty. It's very creamy, fluffy, and tangy. A hint of garlicky flavor in there too. Very delicious. The hummus was also really delicious, but it tastes strongly of citrus. Pretty sour... but in a good way. Not your typical hummus.
We also ordered some waffle fries (a bit expensive for $5), but they fry them fresh when you order too! PRO TIP: Dip your waffle fries in the hummus! Sounds strange... but it was strangely addicting.
Since this is a TAKEOUT ONLY spot, we took our food and had a picnic at Henry Schmidt Park down the street. It was a great...
