Firefly Coffee House — Restaurant in Santa Cruz

I used to love coming to this place but now the quality of the bagels and the customer service is getting progressively worse. This is a childhood favorite cafe for me but all of a sudden the workers just don't listen to you. I always ask for crispy bacon because they barely cook it and that's a pretty simple ask. That was my only problem at first but now they don't listen and they still barely cook the bacon, and on top of that they give you a tiny sliver of cream cheese on one side of the bagel. So we started paying extra for the cream cheese and still they would barely put any on there. Why am I paying 5 dollars for cream cheese on an already expensive bagel and they won't even do the request it shouldn't be on the menu. Today we asked for a cup of cream cheese instead of the side and now the bacon was literally half raw. Like not slightly undercooked literally half raw. And it said crispy bacon on the bag. I hope I do not get food poisoning and they just dont care anymore about the food they are giving you and when you have a problem they will not remake it and the cashier argues with you. This is getting ridiculous almost every time I get a bagel they somehow mess it up. Nowhere else has fresh bagels like this so I'm just...

I have lived in Santa Cruz for the majority of the last 32 years, I have spent hundreds of dollars at Firefly coffee shop for at least the last 7 to 8 years.

A few days ago, I went in to the coffee shop, ordered some bagels and several minutes later watched them making my bagel WITHOUT A FACEMASK OR RUBBER GLOVES IN THE MIDDLE OF AN UNPRECEDENTED PANDEMIC. He didn't even have a facemask around his ears and was not wearing gloves. I was very disappointed and shocked.... And then left with the tough decision if I should eat my food or not.

Since the pandemic started, I have not even ate inside of a restaurant more than two times! I haven't traveled, haven't gone to any bars, any concerts, haven't visited family, and limit my every movement. Can you imagine how upsetting it would be if I got sick this one time from this young guy making my food?

The anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers, and people continuing to spread misinformation about this pandemic is why so many people unnecessarily died. I will no longer support...

Oh my gosh I would give it more than five stars if I could.... first of all they make their own Bagels in house and these bagels are like nothing I ever tasted almost like a bagel /biscuit hybrid🤤 they are fluffy but not too fluffy or hard ....so as to solve the problem that you usually have with a bagel breakfast sandwich, in which the bagels are so hard that all the filling squishes out and then you just have a mess on your hands and a bagel with no filling! You won't see that problem here every bite just as good! Plus they're topped with fun things like cheese, onions, jalapenos! To die for ! Oh and their Bagel sandwiches they put cream cheese and chives on with the bagel toppings, like eggs & avocado. the chives and cream cheese making interesting smear with the toppings!
