Really unfortunate situation but I feel my civic duty to my fellow man, woman and child mandates it be reported. There has to be a higher standard if bed bugs are ever going to be kept out of living spaces. Sparing more detail, I will just say the hotel staff refunded our money and we left immediately. ALWAYS check the bedding! Save yourself a potential headache and be proactive in your lodging. All in all, I would stay here happily if there were no bugs but my conscious wouldn't be clear if I didn't say something... *Edit* After receiving a response from "management" I'm actually (unbelievably) even more disappointed! How can you take personal responsibility for cleanliness when you are looking through these photographs?? There is a layer of funk behind the beds that took many days of repetitive use between cleaning to accumulate. That doesn't come from one guest, or 2... Your level of attention to detail is non-existent if you claim to have personally inspected these areas, ever! Furthermore after reading through a few reviews its pretty obvious I am not the first guest to experience a problem with bugs so why would you insinuate it has NEVER occurred before? Shady approach... A genuine apology would have been nice, not one shadowed in excuses. Worst part about it is this response CLEARY shows you did NOTHING about the problem!! Probably rented the room the same day we left :/ So foul!! Where is the common decency!? Sadly I feel I have been forced to forward this information to the National bed Bug Registry and to share it with the applicable booking sites. It is the duties of an inn keeper to maintain a safe dwelling for travelers. You are tasked with the safety and well being of your guests. To discount the hardships created by your employees negligence is of poor character. I have been suffering through extremely intense bug bites as it turns out I'm very allergic. I'm told it will likely lead to scarring, yay me! Take some serious time to evaluate what it means to put children in that situation and try to act accordingly.

My stay at Ocean Pacific Lodge was a big letdown. We returned to our room to find it reeking of weed, which was annoying since we left the do not disturb sign on the door and were simply looking for decent place to come back to to chill and get ready. It was so bad, like somebody had smoked in our room and hotboxed it - probably the adjoining room. I let the front desk know, and they brought industrial fans (pics attached) - but the smell lingered throughout our stay, making us super uncomfortable. Look, to be honest, this place isn’t nice/fancy, but a clean, odor-free room is a basic expectation. If I had my kids with me, this would’ve been a dealbreaker and I would’ve had to check out and find another hotel. The front desk staff was responsive, but they honestly need to do more to ensure rooms don’t end up like this. Our friends had the same problem with their room last night. It’s a bummer because the location is decent, near the beach, but this experience missed the mark big time. I hope management takes steps to prevent this for future guests. I know we won’t be back.

Came down to Santa Cruz to visit some friends and stayed here for the weekend. Very good location, about a five minute walk to the beach and a spacious parking lot. Room is alright with a couple of notable issues. The biggest one being noises on the lower floors, at night I was awoke several times by people walking up and down the stairwell. The hotel seems aware and provided earplugs for the room, but really they should invest in better accostics. Secondly, the TV has a "clean remote" which does not let you switch inputs if you want to plug in a laptop or similar device as I did. I talked to the front desk and they said they could not give me the remote that came with the TV. Very disappointing. Bathroom was mostly clean but my partner noticed hairs on the floor that clearly did not belong to either us. Overall a decent stay a lot more affordable than the air bnbs we looked at but could really improve in some aspects.

Would rate 5 stars, but there are a couple small minor details that picky travellers may find in other reviews. Would definitely stay again without hesitation.

Pros: Outstanding customer service, nicely renovated rooms, good parking, clean suite with functional office desk, sitting chair, two room layout. fridge, coffee maker, nice vanity and mirrors for the casual/professional traveller. Late checkout no problem 10% Discount added over the phone. Dog check in was no hassle. Beds were mostly comfy water was HOT, long enough to fill the jacuzzi in the room Property was quiet and room had access to sunrise on one side, sunset on the other Late late checkout till 3:30 was offered for about 30-35 dollars.

Cons: Shower head. Purple jacuzzi hard to update with the rest of the property, but it was clean and functioned nicely. Not really a con, but some may give them less points for the age of it. No breakfast. Not a big deal, there are places to eat nearby. Bed not the most comfortable but it was decent. Same with the pillows.

All in all for under 200 you can find a nice place to rest and enjoy your stay here at Ocean Pacific lodge along your...

Recently stayed at this hotel (5/20/22), all other previous stays here have been wonderful except for the previous stay. Room was clean and ok however, the A.C. did not work properly and the customer service was terrible this time around. It was requested for a late check out at the time we checked in which was for 3 pm (a $25 dollar fee). In the morning before checkout the front desk was reminded about the 3pm late check out but they wanted to decline it and kick us out because apparently the late check out was never requested. However, after a small non-confrontational dispute they let us do the late checkout. However, a few hours later my partner and I were disturbed not once...not twice but a total of FOUR times by the hotel staff including the manager by knocking on our door. The staff tried playing dumb and saying they didn't have a note stating we wanted a late check out and tried telling us that the hotel was at capacity. Not our fault that they didn't write anything down. So if you stay here and want the late checkout take down names of the person who checks you in or just go stay somewhere better like we will be doing...
