KOYA SUSHI — Restaurant in Santa Fe Springs

So I once had this place with 5 stars, one of the best places to eat till one night some new staff was just being rude. First off they just forgot about us and never brought drink refills (no it was not a busy night) then I ended up with fish bones in my salmon (sake)... I didn't care, I loved this place and have been coming here since day one, but all I asked was for them to take the rest and the waiter was not understanding. I'm not going to eat the rest of that salmon if I feel there are bones in them like the other pieces, I didn't ask for anything I just asked for them to please take it. After that things got worse, we got ignored completely and just asked for the check (we were only on round one) and another staff member tells us they are going to have to charge us for leaving food, I was still eating all we did was ask for the check. So their charging me for the salmon I asked them to take because I found bones in it? Then they didn't even I've me the check, they all just went in the kitchen and I had to wait to near closing time, this was ridiculous, I had to ask the lady mopping the floor (the only nice one) for it and even she said "service here is bad huh?" I've been to this place multiple times and have brought many people with me but now they have lost my service till something is done here, I'm sure losing the business of a few people doesn't seem like a big deal to them but this was something I had to share. I’ve been going to this establishment for years and for the first time in about 5 years, I got food poisoning from their restaurant. I asked to get a refund (reasonable right?) and I was told by the asian waitress that they cannot do that because I was just trying to get free food. I was very shocked at how unreasonable and rude she was being because i had never had issues with them before. I ordered the Vegetable Tempura which was undercooked and super oily. I had to spit it out. The california roll that I ordered had no flavor (i regularly ordered these same items whenever i go) and my boyfriends meal had no flavor as well(chicken katsu bento box) the only good things were the gyoza. We have both eaten there before and my experience on 02.05.22 is horrible. The Lady told me to go in the dumpster to get my food and bring it back and then they’ll give me a refund for everything. I live in an apartment, my food is in an actual dumpster among others trash. That’s ridiculous to ask someone to do. I am mad and saddened because i also work at a resta And if they are being trained to treat customers this way, then how is the management ? Waste of money and TIME. I hope everyone else eating here has better experiences. Never coming here again. Here I am the next day still experiencing food poisoning symptoms and still no refund smh. HORIBBLE...

What the heck!!! This place is pretty much Narnia. From the outside you would think it's a small hole in the wall but once you step through the wardrobe you find your self in a pretty good size dining area with a drink corner and master counter of sushi chefs doing sushi stuff. We went with a teriyaki bento and some Sushi pieces to try stuff out without screwing ourselves financially in case it sucked. So......🤫 Come in closer....IT WAS FANTASTIC!! Now I'm not a sushi guru and I likeTo keep my opinion based on my level of sushi tasting skills. With that being said this will be my comparisons. This place makes maki yaki look like fast food ,take home grocery level compared to the quality you get here for pretty much the same price or even cheaper. Let me just say you can actually taste crab in the California rolls.
