Del Taco — Restaurant in Santa Maria

Love, love, love Del Taco!! So many more options and so much better quality than Taco Bell! (FYI I'm not a TB hater; I actually really like Taco Bell). They even offer decent fish tacos as a consistent menu item. Occasionally throughout the year they will also offer delicious crispy shrimp tacos and burritos that are pretty damn good. I usually order the classic grilled chicken burrito, grilled chicken tacos (or chicken tacos del carbon, which are also amazing but you can't ever seem to get enough of them), and sometimes a bean burrito with green sauce or a tostada (maybe both depending on my hunger level).

I find that the refried beans are of much higher quality and taste much less processed than Taco Bell's refried beans, which applies for their meats in general, such as their grilled chicken, real beef taco meat, and carne asada that's not rubbery. Even their seafood menu items taste fresh and are especially tasty for a fast food joint, and most importantly, don't make you sick! Don't miss out on their Taco Tuesdays--it's a truly epic experience out of which you can stuff your face with scores of tacos for cheap. One time, I think approximately 17-18 years ago, my buddy ordered 30 crunchy tacos on one of their Taco Tuesdays. I think he finished all of them and lived to talk about...

Just got food here not more than an hour ago on out drive home from Ventura (I won't eat at either of the SM Del Tacos cause they always give me severe abdominal pain and/or explosive diarrhea), but my partner was hungry and wanted something quick to eat on the drive home. Well not more than 5 minutes of being home he was throwing up violently. We only ever eat the fries and Beyond meat tacos/burritos, I've tried them with and without dairy, and with and without salsa, at different times of the day... It doesn't make a difference. I always have the same issue. But this time it got him and got him BAD. I'm wondering if they just don't handle their Beyond in a safe manner, either because not many people order it so it sits out all day, or maybe they think because it's plant based that somehow safe food handling doesn't apply to it? Either way, we'll never eat at any Del Taco again...

Was very disappointed in the food and staff acted like i was a inconvenience and putting them out for asking two questions about menu items. Different resturants make food in different ways im not familiar with the chain. Not everywhere serves the exact same burrito so asking what is in it when it was not listed in the menu and i didn't even have anyone in line after me. Should not be a strange outrageous request or asking the difference between two beef burritos. It is also the only time i have ever had a cashier pick up their phone and text while i was placing a order. I had no one in front of me or behind in line and took less then a minute and half including text...
